For alts you don't need nearly as many skill points. Most people only have one main that actually unlocks more or less everything.

Alts don't really need to unlock the full crafting trees, for instance. That's a lot of freed up skill points.

If you get an alt to 50 and do a DLC or two of quests plus a few dungeons, I think you should be good to go for what an alt needs

I agree. Only my main needs all those skill points, because he's also the crafter.

My alts? I have an excess of points just for playing normally.

I agree entirely, skip the story lines completely. Oh and when they do, do not give them the Skill Points also.

Wow, this really is about paying not to play the game, isn't it?

As a pvper yeah, i would like to skip everything pve related.

You know, they do make dedicated PvP games, with none of this "have to grind the PvE" stuff.

And they even tend to be more balanced, since they're focusing on just being PvP.

(as opposed to the unbalanced pvp minigames that get duct-taped to the side of 90%-PvE MMOs in order to trick a few more players into playing it.)

What a sad time to be alive....

    Skyshard tokens
    Lore book tokens
    Fighters guild tokens
    Skill line tokens

Even saw someone ask for tokens to be one race but look like another.

What's next? Buying PvP ranks and PvE titles?

Does anyone even like this game? That you're willing to pay to change or skip most of it says no....

What they have now, is like forcing yourself to watch Season 1 of a 3 Season series...5 times before you move on to the other seasons.

But, of course, people try 'slippery slope' "arguments".

((BTW: "you people" also pulled this when people asked for Skyshard unlocks. Guess what's coming! :D ))

I have lots of Alts. I've had Alt-itis since Skyrim, actually.

In a roleplaying game, much of the enjoyment comes from replaying the same content...as a different character, who does things differently or who thinks differently about the questlines. I've done the same quests on my Vestige and my Silencer for two different experiences.

If that doesn't appeal to you...fine. Roleplaying doesnt appeal to everyone, even in an MMORPG.

I mean, it strikes me a little bit like using console commands to hand your level 1 Skyrim character all the dragon shouts. Fun for a bit, and great way to jump to the "good bits" that you really enjoy. But also skipping large portions of the game under the idea that "Oh, I already did that."

If ESO had legit roleplaying it would've been a decent argument. But let's be honest here, ESO is a themepark MMO. You don't really have choices in the storyline. A couple of dialogue lines, a couple of spare/kill this NPC-you-don't-care-about-and-will-never-see-again choices and that's about it. If there was a legit way to play those stories differently it would make sense but there isn't. The end result is always pretty much the same.

It's made even worse by the fact that story might feel fresh and engaging on your first character when you have minimal knowledge about game mechanics but it becomes a pure fetch errand on an alt where killing mighty bosses-that-threaten-the-whole-tamriel under 10 seconds is the norm.

And let's be honest, ESO has decent story for an MMO but not something you'd want to replay 3-4 times in one year.

I was and still am against "skyshards unlock on alts". But if we have already gone this way might as well let people skip story quests on alts too. Not like it matters that much anymore.

    OK. Let's be honest.

You are completely wrong. I enjoy playing the story EVERY TIME I start a new character. (which is more often than I would like to admit ).

Why do you have this assumption that Everyone must feel the same way you do?

If you don't want to play the game, then don't play it. That's your decision.

I could get behind an account-wide upgrade to synchronize any skill points or PvP/guild ranks earned for all characters to reduce the grind. Fulfilling the prerequisite again on that character would then bring no reward. This would allow you to still play the stories or dungeon quests if you wanted to do so without losing out on skill points in the meantime. I would definitely buy a 5k+ crown upgrade each for skyshards, skill points, and PvP/guild ranks to make them account-wide. Having to pay less on a per-character basis, however, would spoil the deal and I probably wouldn't buy a single one.

I would say big NO on PvP ranks.

I'll allow 3 tokens instead of 1 to skip the original 'main story'

I am sure Zos will be grateful you will allow to split this into 3 tokens instead of just 1. That is very gracious of you.

So, the price will be 200k crowns per token for a total of 600k crowns just for each of the three alliances. Clearly OP will find that acceptable.

Edit: decided to lower the price from 1000k per alliance to 200k.

I have all but one possible character slot and at least two of each class. 10 characters are raid ready. 4 characters have over 350 skill points, all research done. The rest have between 180-250 skill points. All can perform at least two roles, some can do all three roles.

I will have more characters come the update going live. While I expect something like this is coming, you can expect to wait a long time as Zos has guild lines and more to add to the crown store first. Also, while I jest on price above, you can expect it to cost plenty as there is no reason for Zos to sell such convenience cheaply.

Telling ZOS you are willing to pay money, so that you do not have to do content on a new character, will just encourage them to add more convoluted busy body work like the Psijic skill line, in hopes of offering later a purchasable "solution" to the problem of repeat grinding.

This is my primary objection to the whole thing. It rewards the wrong kind of content creation, and discourages the right kind of content creation. Which is ultimately bad for the quality of the game down the line.

Time is the leveler between poor and rich. We should all come to the game with the same basic expectations. MMORPGs were once about earning things...even multiple times. Cosmetic puffery, sure, sell it to keep a profit so the lights stay on for everyone. Take away the need to earn basic things and the once great mmo genre is something else entirely.

I think the part I'm missing is where they removed skill points from the expansions and DLC, so you're forced to play the original story quests to get skill points.

Are you really so short on skill points from other sources that you feel forced to do the story for those 14 points?

Absolutely you are NOT the only one. I love playing alts through the content. Right now I'm on my 24th and 25th alts (levels 14 and 15 currently), and of course I'm going to do as much questing and such on them as I can considering mega-ping and how it interferes with the major quest lines.

I don't personally see the point, I have a few characters who have never done any of the story quests nor entered the Harborage. They get all the skillpoints needed from dungeons with only a handful of delves and public dungeons to get the rest of the skills needed.

14 skillpoints for such a large cost would be a bit weird.

Now FFXIV allows peeps to get tokens to skip story and it makes sense there. The story is required to unlock content which IMO is ridiculous. That's stuff that should be open from the get go. Thankfully ESO allows you to skip much of the story so you can get to playing the real game.

For those of you who don't understand, there is a large amount of players here who don't really care about the storyline. Many play the game to play a game, not read a story. Reading for many is best done in books. So if players are willing to pay crowns for skipping story content, then by all means. I just don't really see a point to it.

What I'd like to see however is an option that I could select. Maybe call it a No-RP Mode or whatever. What this would do is disable all story elements to quests, dungeons, ect. So none of the thematic elements are present, you go to a quest giver and it asks you if you want the quest yes/no? And then you just do the required actions. And in dungeons you don't see the little NPCs run around to do their thing while you wait and watch. Mobs are just up, bosses are just up, and ready to be engaged.

After 5 years some of us would just like to get to playing the game and not rewatch the same elements over and over. I get it, for some of you it never gets old hearing a quest giver chase you saying they want to speak to you. But that's why I suggest it be an option.

You all get what you want, we get what we want.

    Win-win.

Adding a other nope. It’s basically what I do in this game. And while folks have a point that ESO doesn’t have the best framework for RPing, it is hardly terrible. I played another so-called MMORPG recently and tried to do RP like I do in this game? It didn’t work. The game didn’t support it AT ALL. Which was especially ironic because it was based on THE seminal RPG of all time. Whole game was a transparent cash grab grindfest with little substance. ESO knocks it out of the water and into outer space with regards to story/RP potential.

    Bingo!

If ZOS can sell empty houses for $100, think how much they could make selling MasterBastard, a fully specced out PvP toon with all the gear including a shiny Zaan hat. Or WonderWizzard, the PvE magsorc of your dreams. All available on their Pay Not Play gamestore.
