Why?

@ZOS_GinaBruno I am still wondering about the snipe nerf. For all the pvpers this is not a lets flame and say good topic this is just a question that has still not been answered so please just let it be that. My main has been a bow/bow stamsorc since last july. I worked really hard to get him to where he is. The snipe nerf has been proven by many to be just that a flat nerf in pve. Everyones thinking has been it was nerfed because of gankers in pvp. The problem is it has been shown by many with many parses to be just a pve nerf because it only changes by.1 sec when weaving light attacks, only faster when just spamming snipe. So the problem of ganking is worse because NB can still fire 3 or 4 of them in Cyro then cloak again. So I still have the question do they on;y want wardens and Necros to use bows or why is it not weaving right so the rest of us can use it in pve. As I said this isn't did they need to do something about pvp gankers, they did, but why are you taking the weapon away from all classes except wardens (and it's still a nerf for them). If they just don't want us to use them then they should at least say so because no comments on the issue is wrong and some of us just want an answer other than the forum trolls saying good. Can we please just get a straight answer from the team?

Main reason I find the Snipe nerf fair, is that in PvE content, Melee is inherently the riskier play style and as such should get the most reward

With snipe as it is on live, Bow/Bow builds are hitting as hard (or harder) then their melee cousins despite being far safer from mechanics

Also in PvP, while the skill will still be spamable, it won’t have the impact it used too (which was having a similar issue as PvE where this relatively safe playstyle was outperforming the riskier option that require someone to enter melee range) and it won’t apply Major Defile anymore (thank god)

Please as I asked in the OP can we just let the devs answer, not turn this into a "good I hate snipe" post?

I don't know that they'll go too much further in depth than what they've already stated, cast time abilities had the post cooldown or cast time lowered and they lowered the damage tooltip to compensate for being able to fire the ability faster......

If you want the devs to answer I would think you may need a better thread title than just “Why ?”

Snipe gets -25% damage reduction and NB loses minor berserk, another -8% damage for a total of -33% damage for bow snipers. On top of that it also loses major defile. I swear they should just retitled Lethal Arrow to just Arrow.

On live snipe gets a few k lower dps, the only reason it's being used is the spider synergy which is getting nerfed and made available to mag players now. Snipe spam it self is worst dps.

I did testing with this and dizzy swing hit twice as hard as lethal arrow.

The combos that kill me in PvP don't usually involve Snipe spam, they involve Snipe followed by Incap or possibly by a gap closer. Even at point blank range (and from cloak) the travel time of Snipe makes it so that Incap lands first and buffs Snipe. I assume that speeding up these abilities will make it more difficult to land that combo in the right order or, possibly, in the same GCD at all. If they still can, that may be why the damage was also nerfed.
PC EU: Magblade (PvP main), DK (PvE Tank), Sorc (PvP and PvE), Magden (PvE Healer), Magplar (PvP and PvE DD), Arcanist (PvE DD)
PC NA: Magblade (PvP and PvE every role)
