Hardened Ward change / fix

Has anybody had the opportunity to test the change / fix to Hardened Ward?

I imagine it will have little effect on PvE due to the lower health pools there. But what about PvP?
Will the loss of the 20% make non-pet builds unviable in there, b/c shields without Necropotence will be just too weak?

Can't test this myself :disappointed:

    I am able to slot 56 points into bastion on my magblade, I'm pretty sure you can do the same on a non pet sorc (I am using just around 12 atm if I remeber correctly on my sorc). It's just a matter or reallocating cps I think, even though I'm not 100% sure.

    I didn’t test myself yet, but I guess that the 20% never made an impact except at high health pools. I know it didn’t at least on live in noCP.

    Well, I got 24k health at and a Hardened Ward of 11k on my non-pet sorc build and around (40 CP in Bastion) on live.
    With the loss of the 20% the Hardened Ward should drop down to about 9.4k. And due to the diminishing returns there is not a whole lot you can compensate with CP when you are already invested that much into Bastion.

    9.4k is something that can be easily overwhelmed, which means you are in constant need of healing, which means you need to use the Twilight. Then again, using the twilight allows you to get use Necropotence and get the shield size back to about 10k to 10.5k (depending on what set you replace with Necropotence). But all in all, it pushes sorcs further into the Zoo Keeper role.

    My Hardened Ward size will shrink from around 7.5k to 6.5k. Lol, I'm gonna spam that little thing so hard, it'll give new meaning to the name!

    Or maybe I'll just switch to the other morph for Minor Intellect and a 5.5k ward.

    Not all lose 20% of the shield. If you lose it shield stack harder.

    The funny thing is on my stamsorc I have a shield of just over 10k exactly half my 20k+ health pool and I still do good damage, the shield was my oh crap moment skill and it gives me that 2% damage increase with it which I have loved and will most likely keep it after the change

    I’m console so don’t know what it’s going to be reduced by yet but it will be about 9k really wish they wasn’t fixing this as magsorc most likely won’t notice it but stam and tank sorcerer will

    I should also say I noticed bastion doesn’t increase my shield size with each 1 point in there it had to be in 5’s before the shield size even changed I hope they fixed that too

    On the contrary. Mag Sorcs will notice it the most since it is their main defense. It's akin to reducing the damage mitigated by block and dodge. Sure Magicka builds will also notice it, but it definitely going to hurt stam builds more since they rely on it more heavily.

    This will push sorcs further away from light armor and towards heavy armor / high resistance builds, making them yet tankier underneath their shields. ZOS said in their latest stream that they are aware of the Heavy Armor meta in PvP and want to address it. Yet every change they make pushes builds across classes more towards heavy armor :disappointed:
