Do you think ZoS listens to its player base?

I’d say yes. A lot of suggestions and requests are blatantly imbalanced or dumb. I think the issue is the devs know the game better than most players so know why their suggestions aren’t good ones... or the ask is too costly.
Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

IK ZoS hears what ppl say but I'm not as sure that they *listen* to it as much. I think it's kind of mixed and not really based on certain communities TOO much so much as like. certain things. Like for example people complain abt a class and they nerf it but they don't even almost fix the issue they just make so there's less skills to use usually. I think there's SOME aspects the devs for sure ofc know whats best and just won't make some changes. (or even inform ppl they arent planning on fixing x or y thing)

Also does depend on where you contact them. bug reports from in-game will get ignored for years without getting a status update on it (as if it hasn't been reviewed. ofc they don't comment on it/get back to you) unless you go and update it yourself and tell them it's still an issue. Also I remember the undaunted event in 2018 and ZoS saying they thought they fixed the issue when basically anyone who uses dungeon finder knew that it wasn't fixed.

I think that ZOS listens to top players / class representatives more than they listen to others. But I think that they see inputs from the majority of the player base.

I feel like they pay way more attention than most people give them credit for. We have a huge community, and I don't think it's feasible for every individual complaint to be addressed. I also assume that there are some things that are impossible to adjust without throwing everything else out of whack. All in all I feel like they do what they can with the resources they have, within the boundaries of reason.
I've been wrong before, and I'll be wrong again.

    When nerfs are involved.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

depends Ive been on here for a bit and after seeing a 60+ thread about not nerfing shields get ignored and the fact that most of the feedback threads on here are a joke to even post and seeing as how in the past PTS and Live had little to no differences in balance changes maybe Never isn't the best but rarely

The problem is, for any given topic/issue you can get 5 different opinions.
Which one are they supposed to listen to?

well listening doesn't mean they have to do as players demand them to. so much as understand what players are saying and what the issues are. And probably use common sense to not listen as much to the Bad Ideas.

Listen does not equate to respond

Actually, "listen" doesn't equate to "understand". Response is separate. I speak from personal experience with an aging husband who has hearing issues yes - but worse is the fact that he doesn't understand things he hears. And therefor his response is not generally appropriate.

Honestly, if they listen to *anyone* it's only the dweebs who stream/twitch - can stand those idiots. The people who actually PAY for the game, they couldn't care less about - they already got their money from them, they don't care about keeping them.

It's not just here (ESO) though. This is a common issue everywhere. I have some serious problems with the streaming thing - first, I can't learn from a vid; second, I don't have the bandwidth to WATCH vids as a general "learning" tool (even though my first point explains that); third, well, jeezus - the people that stream game stuff are just.... boring while being unable to articulate appropriately (as I learned the first time I tried to watch a streamer a couple years back while playing Skyrim); fourth, we're at the mercy of streamers BECAUSE game publishers have bought into all that crap.

*shakes head* You know what the absolute worst about today's game world and this sort of thing is? I'm probably going to live at least another 4 decades.... and all this stuff is only going to get WORSE (speaking personally....)

Just because they don't make a change to everything and everyone doesn't mean it fell on deaf ears. They're limited in what they can do in a timely manner and can't and won't ever satisfy everyone. I can guarantee they listen to the entire player base though because nearly every single thing in this game has been touched on since it's launch. People complain and moan about every little thing and it's physically impossible to cater to every complaint, and realistically impossible to cater to the big complaints when there isn't much they can do.

Whether it's a limitation of the coders themselves or the fact some things can't be replicated on their own server, it makes fixing things and improving things significantly hard and those things take time. If you want to say just hire better coders then even that still takes a significant amount of time to get that person/persons up to speed and understand what's going on. Then you have the situation with the servers right now where it probably wasn't budgeted at all to improve the servers and now their scrambling. I can only imagine things like that are capital projects and have to be budgeted for, and when it becomes an emergency need then you start pulling funds from something else.

Tbh idk why so many people think all they do is sit on their hands or twiddle their thumbs waiting for the servers to melt down. They're constantly working and trying to improve the game, constantly working to improve the quality of play.

Obviously this is my opinion so take it for what it's worth, about 2 septims. But to seriously think they do not listen to their players is asinine. Maybe they don't get to things right away and sure it can be frustrating, but I'm positive they are hard at work constantly trying to make it a better game.

If you've been here any substantial amount of time you'd know just how far we've come

Listening is only one part of communication, and without proper communication it's impossible to gauge listening. The only time we know ZOS has heard us and taken our feedback to heart is when they do something we want them to do. Which is not necessarily the only time that they are aware of what we think.

If my friend told me, "My spouse really listens to me! But he/she seldom responds back or acknowledges what I've said," I'd urge the couple to go into counselling.

At the very least they patch bugs! So someone is listening somewhere!

Though there has been little communication on the forums, they probably stopped posting as much because of the negativity on the forums and that some people on the forums find anything to attack or criticize.

Wait, I just realized I might be one of those types of forum users...Hm...

Do they do proper market research? Undoubtedly

Do they know enough about what their player base does in game? They have all the stats

Do they get out of their office and meet players? When they can in the US

Clearly they listen because each expansion has a clear body of player support beyond simply “it’s ESO”, hence necromancers and dragons.

Do they listen to the forums? I kind of hope not. Angry ranting isn’t the best source of constructive feedback. Although I wish they would pay a little more attention to the performance comments.

From pvp point this is dead game. Last pvp content that we had was battlegrounds. They launch it 2 years ago and they are still broken.
