    Resources can be taken alone, just require some good damage or tactics if you lack of that. You can either set a ballista on top of the tower and shoot them or take out the ones around the tower first (inside) and then the ones at the flag (mages first).
    Once in Cyro just type in the zone chat "lfg" and learn from them.

    Is there a way to know for certain from the map where the FD is located on keeps?

    Yes, there is, but you have to know how the different styles of keeps are laid out. Typically, but not always, they have a narrowing of the outer walls where the front door is. Travel to a few of them, and zoom into the map and study their layouts. You'll start to see the pattern.

    Join a group by putting LFG in the zone chat. Better still, join a guild that does regular pvp and group with them. Follow the crown and stick with the pack. Try out the siege engines, and learn the basics of fast travel, sieging keeps, taking resources etc. Don't be worried about dying, because as others have said, you will a lot, esp at first.

    Wear impen armour, at least 5 pieces I would say, to reduce crit damage. Stick with your team, follow the crown's instructions, and don't forget to have fun!

    Still so much for me to learn. So now, I still don't understand. I really wish there was a manual, after 5 years, still not knowing things.

    What is the purpose of campaigns? I always thought it was something you needed a guild for and couldn't go in alone. One reason why I never tried until this weeks event.

    Why have different campaigns? What do they do and offer differently? Different maps?

    Why have a 7 day, 30 day campaigns?

    Also last but least, what am I suppose to do? What if I only go in one day and not the rest? I just don't get the purpose of it yet.

    So the purpose of the campaigns is generally for a couple of reasons.
    • Sometimes it's to allow people to join a campaign quicker if the most popular is 'pop-locked' and don't wanna sit in the queue.
    • Sometimes it's less busy where people can either get their questing done either in overworld or IC.

    But the most real reasons is that you have different types of PvP, thus quicker rewards when the campaign ends.
    1. 1-49 PvP (also 7 day)
    2. 30 day CP
    3. 30 day no-CP
    4. 7 Day CP

    During this event though, they opened more campaigns to handle the amount of players participating in the event. With the next chapter, there'll be some changes (the Imperial City will become it's own campaign) and faction locks I believe on the 30 day campaigns.

    Here's also some more general info here; https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Campaigns

    Welcome to Cyrodiil!

    So a few things to expect/keep in mind;
    • People run large groups of people (zergs) and they can generally cause some laggy situations. Generally these happen around the objectives (Keeps, outposts, resources like the farms/mines/lumbermills, as well as the towns like Bruma).
    • Impenetrable trait will definitely knock of a lot of the damage that's dealt.
    • Keep an eye on zone chats for important call outs when one of those objectives are under assault.
    • Mount train your speed as early as you can, followed by the stamina training. You'll be riding for a while.

    For capturing resources like the mines, farms, lumbermills, and towns;
    1. Kill all the NPCs surrounding the flag (along with the two in front of the tower and the one on the tower) since combat will prevent flags from being taken.
    2. Keep Detection pots with Immovability in your arsenal for the random ganker.
    3. Wait until it's fully your alliances color and then you can ride off. You'll still get the capture reward (Alliance Points) for taking it.

    For capturing Keeps and Outposts, you'll need a few things;
    • Make sure zone and yell chats are on and enabled as there's a lot of important callouts that are made.
    • There's a sieging mechanic where you have to take down walls or 'front doors' (FD for short). I'll explain some of the widely used siege later on.
    • Stay with coordinated groups during the taking of it. Siege if you can (and if there's space). Quickslot siege weapons early before you engage in combat as you can't switch this during.
    • 'Look both ways' to ensure you or your group don't get flanked and stay on your toes.

    For defending Keeps, Outposts, Resources, and Towns;
    • Be sure to call out in zone if there's a large group at any of these, preferably before they have a chance to lay down siege weapons.
    • Try to give a guestimate of how many there could be.
    • If it's one person overtaking a resource or town, they're probably capturing for the quest objective in which case you can just 'flip' it when they leave.
    • If all three resources (farms, mines, lumbermills) around keeps are taken, it's blocked from the transit line and you can't travel to that keep unless you have a Keep Recall stone.

    Siege weapons are just a single mouse click once you drop them down from your quickslot (like potions). You have a few choices here;
    • Meatbag catapults; Decreases healing recieved.
    • Stone Catapults; Does more damage to buildings and milegates.
    • Ballistas (also does damage to structures)
    • Coldfire Ballistas/catapults do a number on player groups.
    • Oils are good for keep/outpost defense (you 'dump' them on players while you're above them, usually on or near gratings of some kind).
    • Battering Ram; Five people can bring down the front doors, but are at risk to Oils. Tanks and Healers are good in coordination with these.

    Some other things to keep in mind;
    • Forward camps (FC) are used as a stationary revive when a keep or outpost is under assault.
    • Keep Recall stones can get you to keeps faster to defend if it's not flagged (under assault, if it's resources are fully taken you can still port to them). You have to be at a distance away from an objective however.
    • Crossing sword icons and their size can resemble small, medium, or large fights.
    • Keep a healthy amount of soul gems on you so you can revive people around you if you can't get a Forward Camp down.
    • If you want to find a group, casually ask--just keep track of the map before you ask and show up to a keep or outpost that's seeing some 'action'.
    • Invest in some of the PvP skills (Vigor, Caltrops, Detonation, Purge, etc).
    • Learn to counter cloak with Radiant Magelight, Stealth Detection potions, as well as using a lot of AoE. Despite what some people might think, learning to counter this early on will prevent a lot of hassle in the future.
    • Don't chase sorcerers who streak away more than twice. That generally leads to death.
    • If you see something, say something. Especially if it's a large group heading in a certain direction, say that in zone. If it's a ganker, post that to yell unless you're the only one at the keep/resource. In which case if you can't handle them on your own, use zone to call for help.
    • Deep water is bad. Slaughterfish everywhere.
    • The Golden NPC vendor is there every weekend to sell some very coveted sets (Monster Helms, Shoulders, gold jewelry). You can use gold or Alliance Points to get them.
    • Repair doors and walls, though if you see someone of the same alliance sieging a milegate--try not to repair those and instead use a Keep Recall stone. This is to slow down enemy factions from reaching keeps. So for instance if you're from the Pact, the Chalman Milegate is something that you can take down to slow DC from overtaking the Keep/flip resources before they get there.
    • Elite vendors in one of your starting locations in Cyrodiil can sell overworld gear found throughout Tamriel (excluding dungeons and trials, I'm not sure about DLC/Chapter sets as well)

    Most importantly, just remember that what others may do (teabag, send hatemail/tells)--Just let it roll off your shoulders. They do this expecting to get a rise out of you. Also, expect to have some intense lag in some situations or an outright drop to login with no error message.

    Edit; Will add to this when I remember more.

    I always like whatever you post.

    Thanks for the tips.

    So what should I expect?

    Expect long periods of boredom as you wander through endless empty landscape intermixed with short peroids of terror as some gankmaster catches you.

    Expect to meet lots of people... and see many of them kill you, although some will be just there for the questing and ignore enemies... I heard permablocking without attacking is the general "don't kill me please I just wanna quest" sign, some might honor it, some won't.

    Expect a lot of travel times, especially when the map is not your color. Bring a fast horse. (and now you know who always whines about the riding training here on the forums too!)

    Expect to sneak a lot when in enemy terriotry, or die a lot when not sneaking enough. Expect to have good luck when you clear a dwelve without getting ganked, and bad luck when you step through a door and find yourself dead before you even realize what is going on.

    Expect a LOT of vexation, from the gankings to the fights where you go like "how the heck do they do that, they are not even taking any damage from me? Haaaxxxxx!" (some of them may actually be cheaters, but many more will just be that good in gear, build, and skillz)

    Expect lag. And more lag. It happens. (and is the reason the powers that be removed a LOT of the critters and gathering nodes that were cluttering the landscape in days past)

    Expect a while to get to know the lay of the land, and figure things out. Like, that most dwelves there will have multiple bosses you need to kill to clear the place, and not all are always up...

    Expect to have fun with sieges, when the fight is not too one-sided in your disfavor. Especially after dying a lot, it is neat to have the feeling you actually accomplished something, even when it was by the quality of your warbands quantity.

    Expect to stare at a lot of respawn screens. Like, a LOT! Sometimes you will learn something. Sometimes you will just have the other guys huge PvPness rubbed in your face. (Doubly so in case of teabagging)

    Expect to have fun if you like exploring, the map has -many- hidden nooks and crannioes most PvPlayers never go to, and quests lying around, neat places to find, skyshards to grab and all that...

    Expect to meet the worst. Players who will mess with others just because they get their jollies that way. Players who send you taunting and otherwise harassing whispers. But... occasionally also really nice players who may not kill you, not vex you, and so on. Heck, once I even got a friendly wave instead of a gank. It happens.

    Expect to finally have a reason to actually pay attention to zone chat, to know where the next attack to join in might be happening. As in any warfare, you will fare better if you bring friends, or at least join up with them.

    Expect to be afraid of water. Its full of slaughterfish in most cases, so no "I'll take a quick shortcut though the river" in cyrodil, hear! Note that this applies to the brige-able rivers, the inland lakes are usually safe.

    Expect to get ganked a lot. Yeah, it cannot be said enough, if you ar enot a PvP-master, you WILL get rekt, a LOT. And getting stomped a lot is the only way to find out what works and what doesn't, to get better and maybe someday do the same to other newbies (or casual PvE players wandering in there for the event)
    Davor wrote: »
    New question. If someone get's killed in Cyrodill from another player, does the person that got killed loose anything? Does the person who killed him/her get anything?
    If you get killed, all you loose is maybe some armor repair fees. No XP loss, no gold drops, no item getting left on the battlefield... ESO is pretty nice in that regard.

    Much more annoying is that you can only respawn at peaceful keeps from PKs and might have a -long travel time back to where you were questing... and if you do that, chances are you may get killed again if your slayer loiters in the area.

    If someone kills you, they gain alliance points for your demise. That's the point after all, war effort and such. Also, there are some achievements... like "kill 100 nightblades, gain special dye" etc.

    Its different in Imperial City...
    ...in IC, any player who murders you gets most of your TV stones, so... gankfest central! And casual players will want to take many, many trips to their homebase to bank those TV stones before they go out again, as to not loose ALL their gains...

    I am finally in cyrodiil. After what 5 years of playing I finally did it. I never knew I had to join a campaign. Oh well, better late than never eh? So what should I expect? I haven't travelled through the nodes yet so I walked all the way to do my scout quest. Oh my Cyrodiil is freaking huge. I swore I was in Skyrim/Oblivion/Morrowind when you sneak past their barrier. You know land just keeps coming but nothing really there. In Cyrodill's case I saw trees and grass, but shocked at the lack of flowers, and mining to be done and picked. Really barren.

    Finally got to see an enemy and a wolf. I don't even reconize the landscape. At least Morrowind felt like Morrowind and Gold Coast feels like that part in Oblivion. So is Cyrodill new? Coming in from Aldmeri Dominion side so south going north, I didn't feel like it was in Oblivion. Is it the same and it's me, or is it really different?

    Also since this is new to me and I don't really know what I am doing what should I expect? I can't remember the name, but its a 7 day campaign with no CPs allowed to be used. So what should I be doing?

    I tried to take something, but dang those AI defenders are really tough. I take it they are not suppose to be taken on alone.

    Also how do you take over a farm or mine? I am at a loss what to do and Google didn't help me out at all, giving me links on other stuff than I am looking for. Please help me understand and know what to expect when doing campaigns and when in Cyrodill.

    You really only need to do learn two basic things for Cyrodiil.

    First of all, after teleporting there, spam zone chat asking for an invite. Once you get invited, look on the map where your group is, teleport closest to them as is possible, and from then on follow the leader's instructions. Profit.

    Secondly, when the game starts lagging very badly, an enemy zerg is nearby. Hide somewhere, though chances are they are already all around you but the game hasn't loaded them in on you screen yet, in which case you are already dead.

    (Thirdly, never ever tell anyone in Cyrodiil you are new to it)

    In most cases, the cheaters accused of cheating are just very good players.

    Why would you ask for an invite? To get invited into a group, I thought that would be obvious? You could also ask in your guild etc. but just asking in zone chat in Cyrodiil works.
    You don't 'need' a group per se. But roaming alone in cyrodiil without prior experience will be an abysmal experience for you, plus in a group you learn how the cyrodiil game works. Just follow the instructions of the leader.

    You don't 'need' a group per se. But roaming alone in cyrodiil without prior experience will be an abysmal experience for you, plus in a group you learn how the cyrodiil game works. Just follow the instructions of the leader.

    It's not obvious for me, because I don't know how MMOs are suppose to work, and what is expected. I guess I have been playing single player games almost all my life which all started with Masters of Orion, Civ I and The Elder Scrolls: Arena. So never touching an MMO, I have no idea how it works. I guess that is why I didn't like ESO on launch day. Didn't know what to expect, no manual to read, so I am at a total loss. :)

    I really appreciate your opinions. I guess from what I like, I will not be in Cyrodiil long, but I will try and see learn. I am socially awkward, especially when it comes to online with stragners, so not I will try a guild. I hope the guild search will come pretty soon. :)
    Also, if you are part of a group Davor, you earn the Alliance Points (ap) with the group, which is much easier way to earn ap than when going alone in PVP land....

    What are Alliance Points for? Only thing I know is you need them to change campaigns. What if you don't change campaigns. What can I use them for? Really wish there was a manual. Lots of google searching is from a year or more ago so not sure what is current nd what is not.
    Not my quote but I love this saying

    "I would pay It for support. But since they choosed we are just numbers and not customers, i dont mind if game and zos goes to oblivion"
