Received a Closed Beta Code, but I don't Own ESO

Hello all,

Earlier in the week, I received a Closed Beta Code for The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr, which is great, save that I don't own The Elder Scrolls Online. I recently enjoyed the Free Play event from a few weeks back, but I have not purchased the base game yet (I plan to do so down the road).

Would I be correct in assuming that I can not participate in the Beta since I do not own the game? If so, would I be able to pass my Beta code along to a friend who does?

Thanks!

You can't give the code away. If you actually read the email, it says "We have redeemed a code on your account" or something similar, so the code has already been used.

Not sure about the rest though.

Try logging in to the PTS and see if it works?

This is hugely disappointing to see.

I haven't received my code, and have logged into PTS several times to confirm that I am blocked from accessing Elsweyr content.

But someone who doesn't even own the game has been given access.

I put in a ticket today asking for access and was told there is nothing they can do.

@ZOS_GinaBruno, why is Eslweyr PTS access not being given to those who own and support the game??!!

@Svenja You are correct. Now that I re-read the email, it appears the code has already been redeemed for me.

@kookster I can't get to the launcher, since my Free Play License has expired. When I try to launch the game from Steam, it takes me to the game's page to purchase.

@Emathides Yes, I find it quite odd that they've given me access to something I don't appear to be able to access.

Have you preordered Elsweyr, or participated in either Summerset or Morrowind Closed Beta?

If not, then its not surprising that you haven recieved a Code.

That ppl who participated in the free Test Event get an invite is somewhat of understandable. Zos would like to get tohose players as their customers, so adding stuff like closed beta PTS access makes kinda sense.

@SaintSubwayy I have not on either count. My first and only experience with The Elder Scrolls Online was the 25th Anniversary Free Play event.

That's the first and only time I've played the game, and I was only able to play for about 5 hours (and really enjoyed those).

jeah, and ZOS uses this one event to promote the Game, by giving oyu access to the Closed Beta PTS...thats an understandable buisnessmove

You have an account which you created when you did the trial. That "code" is likely already attached to your account. Very, very doubtful you can provide it to anyone else.

The obvious solution here, since you enjoyed the 5 hours, is to buy ESO, download PTS, and play Elsweyr for free for a couple weeks.

@idk I believe you are correct.

@lordrichter Ha, that is one solution! I do want to buy the base game, I really enjoyed what I played, but I want to wait until I get more games off my back log. I currently have three games on the go, two of which are The Elder Scrolls titles, and I'm not including The Elder Scrolls: Blades which I'm playing here and there.

Mortal Kombat 11 also comes out next week, which is going to become my primary game for some time.

They advised in this news article that everyone who has played over the last year would get a invite email/code https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/56099

"If you haven’t tested a Chapter for us before, but have played ESO this last year, you’ll receive (or have already received!) an email invite with the details. Because this is such a large test, invites will be sent out over the next few days, so don’t worry if you don’t immediately get yours."

However, they have left a number of players out, judging from the number of posts I've seen on the forum, including myself.

If they are done sending out invites, yes. Otherwise, they are still "in the mail" waiting to be delivered.

Nothing to do with it, i recieved a code to play the pts test and i havent pre ordered.

EDIT: Never tested Morrowind or Summerset either. as i was a console peasant when those were released.

@kookster I can't get to the launcher, since my Free Play License has expired. When I try to launch the game from Steam, it takes me to the game's page to purchase.

Dang that's unfortunate. Well if you like ESO, right now might be the time to get it?

It would be a good time, but as I mention in another post above, I've got too many games on the go right now, many from The Elder Scrolls franchise! I'll be holding off longer. I am looking forward to when I finally take the plunge though.
