I haven't had any issues with recent downtimes. By the time I'm able to play each day the server is back up and no queue to speak of. However...
The game is almost umplayable right now... skills taking seconds to fire, your health goes down with a delay that is ridiculous, can't even use any pots or heal skills.

with the state of the server it is better to close it altogether.

This has been my issue with the game since I started playing it several years ago. Server response time has always been fairly poor. When you play ESO for a while, you get used to it. When you leave and play something else then come back as I have several times it hits you like a truck each time.

My internet is some of the best in my state. My friends from the military who are around the country in different regions of the US also say they see the same thing. Using abilities takes several keypresses to get them to fire off sometimes. Sometimes heavy attacks get locked out after using an ultimate.

If you're healing, sometimes you don't see when damage is occurring and either have to keep the HOTs up 100% just in case, or periodically cast a heal just to be sure. Which lowers damage output where heals aren't needed.

This is exacerbated by the issue where skills and abilities and attacks will NOT fire off until you press and release the key. If you press the key and the release doesn't register due to lag, latency, or whatever, the ability will not execute. Or in many cases it will be delayed.

The first issue could be handled with optimizing server code and hardware upgrades I'd imagine. But the second one requires some game changes. I would like to see an option added to settings where abilities will cast on keypress and not wait for release. While I understand this has repercussions for some abilities, I'm willing to deal with those. For example, I would also like a keybinding for heavy attacks.

This way I could cast abilities on demand, know that the ability isn't going to be latent, and if needed I can map heavy attack to my right click, and block to something else. I've got over 30 mouse inputs between 5 buttons, scroll, and 12 number keys with combination keys from shift, alt, and ctrl.

My friends and I play at a level of play where we'd like to have more precise controls over our characters' actions. Too often do we get a failure of the right spell or ultimate going off because the game didn't register a weapon swap. Or we use an ability without a buff because the skill that applies the buff didn't register.

I've personally seen this issue in different geographical regions, and on various different hardware, both internal and external. Including AMD and Intel Processors, Nvidia and ATI Video Cards, and various motherboards, and various versions of Windows as well as Saitek, Logitech, Razer, Coolermaster, and Corsair peripherals. This is not a local internet issue, not a hardware issue, and not an operating system issue.
