Played for a few hours last night using Steam Proton and Ubuntu 18.04. Everything looked Great! i had no issues. current PC specs to follow

i5 processor
8GB Ram
Nvidia 960
Edit: Forgot to add, I Am Using a Kingston 480GB SSD
I was impressed with the game for the smoothness and fluent graphics.

Last night I re-formatted to Ubuntu 19.04 so some time later today i will be trying that with Steam Proton. Kudos on a great looking Expansion!

Just in Case Anyone plans to use Ubuntu 19.04 Disco Dingo, PTS patch is extremely slow and bogging down my system. To the point that I can't open Firefox, had to do a reboot to post. Otherwise so far everything else seems to be running smoothly but have not been in game yet to see how it looks. will update as I test more...

Which reminds me I am checking for updates for 19.04

Edit: After Reboot it has cleared up the slow boggy install of the PTS Patch Thankfully!

I play it on Arch Linux without any problems. Actually, the game sometimes crash when using alt-tab, but that is the only issue I've got.

I run the game on top graphics and fps goes between 60 and 100. Sometimes 30 close to water and heavy animations, but that is it.

i have been playing on NA servers for about 5-6 hours now had 1 random crash and just now needed to do a reboot, some graphic textures were being greyed out, otherwise they game runs very well. I am not sure what my frames are currently but i am a pretty happy camper with it at the moment. I was thinking of getting 32GB of ram and putting in my 1060GTX i have collecting dust. But the ram is just too expensive, i need DDR3 so i might as well wait till i can afford a gaming laptop.

Still have to decide on options for what i want to do regarding a laptop. for now though I am pretty much a Linux gamer Lol!

hmm well, for myself i think the game looks Amazing on Linux, whether its better and more beautiful than windows i would think depends on your system and set up. My system is not top end but runs the game very well.

That looks Amazing Prutton! 72 frames by the water is pretty crazy!

I don't think so. I used in both systems, and graphics look the same. It also has high fps on Windows.

Just to make clear, the high ping is because I am in EU, not because of the system.

Ahh ok Prutton. From using both Windows and Linux and the Advantages and Disadvantages to both OS Systems. Windows may for now be the staple when it comes to MMO gaming. However a lot of progress is being made with Linux systems and Steam as an example. With Proton not every Windows game will work but that doesn't mean in a few months to a year they won't depending on how often Steam updates Proton.

That being said however and looking from a MMO Gamers point of View. ESO is the top MMO Currently IMO for a Linux based platform. I am Also pretty sure that the single player games, Skyrim, Oblivion, and Marrowind will run with Steam Proton as well on a Ubuntu 18.04 - 19.04 system. which in my books makes the franchise a very nice addition to Steam and Linux. i have been playing MMO's as early as 2001 with EQ and nearly every MMO from then to now just don't have the same appeal to me currently that ESO does. I guess in the end i am turning into a very big ESO fanboy LOL!!
