Beggars in ESO

Why are there panhandlers/beggars on the streets of the towns if we aren't allowed to help them? In Skyrim I always gave a gold to the beggars and felt good about it. I realize it's a game and they are not real people. But I really hate seeing people sitting on the ground with their hands out and I can't choose to help. I realize that many, if not most, would choose to ignore them. My reasoning is that you put them there for a reason. What reason? To be annoying? To make us feel guilty forcharging 15,000g for one potent nirncrux? Seriously, let us talk to them and help them out. Do a good deed.

Not that I really want to waste gold, but it is sad not being able to help.

I could use a /beg emote. I wanna rp as beggar to help people like you. I'm only 250k short for a particular manor house. Then I won't have to beg anymore.

If you pick-pocket any of those beggars you will soon discover that they are all faking poverty. They are there to be robbed and then sent to Sithis for their sins.

Yes its a bit weird you can not donate a gold piece to them
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Some beggars belong to the Give to the Poor world events, but you won't find them in the cities.

The rest are just bums for bums sake.

Yeah they can nerf the beggars if they want - remove them from the game. I don't want to RP as a generous soul necessarily. If they are there and we have to hear them begging we should be able to respond and shut them up. So many grumpy and unhappy people in Tamriel, moaning out loud about how awful their life is. I'm not really into murder for the sake of murder but it seems to be the only way we could make it so we don't have to hear somebody grumbling every half a mile in the game. I find it really annoying. My latest pet peeve is the guy in the door to the crafting area inn Alinor. "Oh, what am I going to do? I'm a failure! I'm so sad!" Can't I just give him A few gold and send him to the bar to drown his sorrows? Yeesh!

I know in Davon's Watch there is a begger under the bridge you can actually give money to. TBH after that zone I didn't talk to non-key NPC's enough to learn if there were more.

Sadly even if we give them money it's not going to change their fate for us. :disappointed:

There are quests/achievements for giving money to those beggers. Also for lighting campfires and helping those being robbed.

Play enough of the game and you will come across them.

Then again I have over 5000 hrs of gameplay, maybe I play to much.

Ironically, the only beggars you can give money to are the ones talking about his 13 children that seem to be multiplying and getting sicker every time he mentions it XD

I'd rather give money to the poor Argonian who was probably previously a slave... Or maybe good old Gaenor

A couple scattered thoughts on this topic:

      1) I've only run across the beggars you can actually give to a couple times. And they sound sketchy as hell. One guy I chose not to give to. Then I learned there's an achievement for giving to them anyway. I hope I can find him and correct that. But it's not for him, the scammer.

Meanwhile, you walk past these people that call out "I'm so hungry," and I'm hauling around hundreds of Sticky Pork and Radish Noodles and millions of gold, and I can't do anything for them.

      2) One of the more hilarious things in the game is how NPC emotes seem to be semi-randomly assigned to the type of NPC. I've seen commoners, soldiers, fisherman, and others I was stealing from walk over to a road and get down in the begging position. They're so confused, poor guys. I don't know if I've seen a noble NPC do this, but if you know of one, tell me where.

Obviously, there's no way in hell this would ever happen or could happen, but I do kind of wish there was a way to just go around helping the downtrodden of Tamriel.

Master Anglers could literally "teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime" as the saying goes. Maybe some of these people just need to finish high school. Or learn a trade. Well, let me tell you, the Mages Guild and the Fighters Guild OWE ME. Big time. I also have this massive villa in Artaeum that could probably fit a few souls looking to get out of the cold.

Difficult to do in a game, though. Ironically, easier to do in real life. Conveniently, that's where we ought to be doing it, anyway.

We used to be able to donate to them but in patch 35.65 that was Nerfed due to balance issues.
