Cost for unlocking Skyshard Hunter for characters?

How much will it cost and what currency will be used to unlock the Skyshard Hunter achievement on other characters? If this is crowns only, it is about as close as you can get to Pay-To-Win without going over the line. Essentially, especially in the 10-49 PvP, you couldn't get all the skill points without being 50. So if you pay, you get that advantage.

While I agree 100% (that this feature is a bit unbalanced for lowbie PvP), it's worth noting that if you have a really well-thought-out levelling path, you could have enough skill points to unlock all relevant passives while still playing that campaign.

...this will likely increase the % of players in lowbie PvP that have all passives, but it wasn't impossible before.

    Sorry, @Lakashi, it’s not P2W.

Unlocking the skyshards doesn’t also level the skill lines for players. It’s just a surplus of skill points you can’t use ... until the skill is leveled and morphed.

    I'm 50/50 on this.
It isnt really pay to win but pay to progress...
Personally something like this but for horses would be better imo

I said it was very close to the line, not that it actually is. I just want them to say how much they plan to charge at this point.

Five hundred bagillion crowns that you have to pay in blood.

We know ZOS. Whenever they add something that makes some people excited, it ends up just being a bit too expensive for comfort. Or it ends up being like the outfit slots...

I bought a couple of these thinking my whole gang will have 2-3 outfits to pick from.

You still need to level skill lines and do everything else. This is not pay to win.

Is Cyrodiil a zone that's on the list? I'm particularly curious about that one since it has so many and is not as easy to get through as, say, Alikr.

I was so proud of all the achievements I'd earned via hard work, effort and my time....now you can just buy these achieves like the skyshards. I had to get into pvp territories and do a bunch of caves or delves too. Foof this...really unfair and rude.

What will be left for people to achieve then? Oh trying to get 50k dps parses that's right 😝😝😝

Except routinely when leveling skill lines below 50, you can afford the skill points to increase 3 out of 5: class skills and morphs, class passives, weapon skills, weapon passives, and armor passives. Getting extra passives does help below lvl 50, especially with regen.

Is it a major concern? No. But it is absolutely p2w for a very small portion of the game.

See the "requirements not met" note underneath the crown purchased Skyshards? The requirement is having the associated achievement on at least one of your characters. You still have to get them all legit, it's just this way you only absolutely have to do it once.

Cyrodiil is available but it's divided in 3 parts, one for each alliance:

    Imperial City is also available.

That is mine as well, and even that is really pretty steep if you had intentions of doing this on multiple toons and/or maxing out a single toon.

1k crowns for 5 skill points is a pretty bad deal, and we might be optimistic in our predictions.

I think they are banking on people buying these on an spontaneous/as needed basis as an alternative to a re-spec. Hard to swallow spending 15-20k crowns to max out a new toon, but I suppose some people have too much money.

If they sold the Tamriel Skyshard achievement at a reasonable price, say 5k crowns, I might buy it for a Few characters, but this model is pretty unappealing

Are these able to be gifted? If so, then it's not so bad as you could sell some crap and do quick vAA plunder runs to get enough gold to trade for crowns. If they can't be gifted, then rip the dream I guess. Those who are desperate for it would have to try and actually sell their gold for real money to buy crowns, which is a different level of risky.

It just seems very different from the cosmetic options that have been there in the past, at least to me. That is why I made this thread. I really don't want to see them go in this direction, but it seems most of the commenters are completely fine with it. Unfortunate, in my opinion. :'(

It's not pay to win if you have already played the game once to get them, it's only pay to win if you have never got them in game before.

The game is 5 years old, it's time to start unlocking the content for multiple characters.

Its pay to not grind on additional characters, which is convenient but its not an unfair advantage. I wouldn't buy it for additional characters even if there was a previous option so there is no real loss for me.

I think this is optimistic scenario (though I'd like it), taking into consideration how expensive are outfit slots (and these are pure cosmetics), I'd say that skyshards will be even more expensive. All Cyrodiil + IC skyshards will be top sellers, I really doubt ZOS will go ez on this.

That's not pay to win, not even close. Firstly you need achievement in game. Secondly there is nothing that limits you to get those skyshards without paying meaning that's pure convenience.

If you want to see p2win play any Asian MMO or games led by GameForge, ESO is heaven when it goes to $ shop.

I have to agree that this maybe not p2w but very close and I don't like the direction, it is similar to when they made Pyandonean motif crown crate only it is a testing ground to see how the players base react, I may have no problem with skyshards sold but if it pave the highway for p2w in the future then I'm 100% against.

I agree, It's an horrible model.
i was pretty eager to check it, 14 toons to use it on, but with this model is simply too expensive and dispersive.
spending 1000 crown to have 16 skyshards, normal zone, it's just not a smart move.

You can absolutely already get the skyshards on a lowbie char and have those skill points, without leveling up to 50. Even if you wouldn't get the skyshards, which are behind a quest, you can get a good chunk of skill points minimal exp gain.
