NOVELTY STICK MOUNTS: an humble plea

Greetings everyone.

@ZOS_GinaBruno

I am here to ask a simple thing: give the novelty stick mounts the status of real mount, let it benefit from the stable upgrades.
I can understand that devs may have added this kind of limitation in order to prevent swarms of players from invading the streets with these mounts, but now that the situation is passed and we may now see things from a more detached point of view.
The mount per se has no reason to not be a real mount (we have pebbles as pets) and the increasing number of jester characters added with the recent jester festival demands a themed mount, not a pale imitation.

Alternatively, let me ride it in places where you can't normally if it's not considered a real mount

That would be a display of coherence! :D

Subjective opinions aside on whether or not it should be, you most likely will not see any changes, as significant changes such as that made to items sold AFTER the fact would not be reacted to well.

I imagine there would be LOTS of people who would be really upset, people who opted not to buy one specifically because it wasn't a real mount, who would feel quite cheated that it's instantly switched up on them now that it's out of reach.

You never want to establish an aura of uncertainty among buyers of whether or not things will be switched up on them.

Yea I thought that was quite silly as well.

Kinda defeats the whole purpose of the item :D

It's a stick mount. There's no way that you would be able to "ride" it and go as fast as a horse. Though I would like to have the run and sprint speeds be as fast as my character normally runs/sprints. Maybe they are and it just seems slow because it's much slower than a normal, upgraded mount.

It does benefit from the stamina and capacity upgrades, though, so it's still a mount, it just doesn't benefit from the speed, which seems right to me considering it's just your character running with a toy mount.

Do you... realize that it IS a mount, right? It just goes slower so there actually is no point in not making it a mount as it is ment to be.

Unless it's a visual bug or other unintended impairment issue, items in the Crown Store aren't changed after their release.
The novelty sticks were sold exactly as their name implies. Fun, cheap items that use your mount slot but function a lot more like a personality. They were never intended to be competitive transportation, and were advertised and priced as such.

"Competitive transportation" what a silly concept :D

Anyway, we can still habe that or this:

You've completely missed the point of my post. I'll repeat that here for clarification:

"I imagine there would be LOTS of people who would be really upset, people who opted not to buy one specifically because it wasn't a real mount, who would feel quite cheated that it's instantly switched up on them now that it's out of reach."

The Emboldened Sections being the key aspects of focus here rather then the semantics of the terms.

Aside from the actual primary focus point of the post, the part you did choose to latch on to was unfortunately incorrect. It is not broken or glitched or anything like that. It was & is released completely as intended by ZoS.

Which circles right back around to the original point of my post. Changing features on an intended item AFTER it's now out of reach would be a bit of a slap in the face to those who chose not to buy it specifically due to the fact it wasn't intended to have those features.

I actually love these mounts the way they are. Since technically you're mounted you can't be hard CC'd. Just yesterday I ran 5 or 6 DC players around while they spammed rune cage on me constantly and since they dismounted to fight, I could outrun them for days. Ran them around some random rock several times before I just cloaked out :D

I agree with you, but it would be easy to carve a workable exception: if they brought them back for the original prices and a lengthy duration in the Crown Store.

Not, "hey, we've changed them, here's 24 hours for you to grab them up," but rather "hey, we've changed them, here's 14 days to grab them up."

I dunno...they were labeled in the crown store as "pay to lose"...not sure how much more they could telegraph that these are not "real" mounts--they're fun, silly toys. And they also clearly stated that they do not gain benefits from mount speed. I love my stupid stick mount FOR its silly impracticality, and don't think anything should change when we clearly knew what we were buying.

There is nothing more satisfying than cruising around cyro on my dumb@$$ stick horse! And retroactively changing what I knowingly paid for is bad form, especially given the abundance of "real" mounts that each of us have in our collections.

Yup, that was along the lines of what I was thinking as well. It would definitely be the way to have to go about it if they do choose to make any changes.

I refused to purchase because they didn't make it an actual mount, I would be enormously pissed if they changed it now that I can no longer purchase it.

So we can't have nice things just because you were too cheap to buy it. Ok, noted.

NO! Please don't! Keep them "pay to loose" items!

YES! They are not real mounts, they are toys, so... people should be able to "ride" them wherever!

Also, please add a "clapping coconut halves together while prancing-walking" one for next years foolery!

I wouldn't call it being cheap. He didn't like how the product functioned. If the product functioned differently he would've bought it. That's thoughtful, not cheap. And changing things after a fact can and will *** people off, both the ones that like the mount the way it is and those who didn't buy it because it is like that.

    Guys please.

I am not here to convince others that what we bought MUST be changed. I am here to politely ask a way to give a jester a proper mount.
The novelty stick was a nice idea, but in the end we got a simple toy, i was so sad the day i came to know the truth about it.
This is a matter that i care so much about: we got themed mounts for other themed characters but the jester, which is an even more difined concept, has nothing even remotely combinable.

As solutions that makes everyone happy, devs may just release a copy of the current toy called something like "Enchanted novelty styick horse/guar/dragon", providing it with a description like:

"Some powerful mages and enchanters have a really playful nature..."

In order to give a reason (as if we need any) for an inanimate object to increase your speed.
As alternative, we could always rely on something like this:

Technically it is a 'toy mount' so guess Tamriel has children in it after all, us.
Also, anything constructed on a 'fools ' holiday is going to be jokey!! Jokey as in joke...or pranky as in prank 😜😛

Alright, you should've been clearer. You realise that if they make a mount like this it probably won't cost 900 crowns? ;)

A newbie telling others to go play wow using "common sense" and "lore" as reasons when we have far less probable items in game.

As long as you don't try to argue a -wooden toy horse- should somehow give you riding like an -actual- horse...

I mean, I have no issues with adding a "jester" themed mount!
I believe... a donkey would be the traditional option for that, add some bells and whistles (literally in some cases), and smile at all the proud knights riding their strusty steeds!

Just the joy of finding what is lying around the internet! If you searhc long enough, you can probably find a picture for every occasion sooner or later...
But I agree, a "jester donkey" would make for a good cyrodil mounts for those who realize you cannot spell "slaughter" without "laughter"... :p;)
