Selling or using rare motifs or plans are arguably far more impactful than destroying a batch of crown poisons. They could possibly add confirmation dialogue to the sale or consumption of rare motifs/plans - and then give us an option to turn off confirmations - ALL confirmations, to be clear. The request from the OP is not that crazy, when fencing stolen, blue quality goods, you get a warning that items can not be bought back from the fence and you have to confirm the transaction.
Some items you delete from your inventory, demand a typed "DESTROY" confirmation.
You are correct it is not necessary.
Some people are persistent in being asked to be protected from their own actions (but blame it on the game).
I am not suggesting OP is blaming it on the game, but they are certainly asking Zos to protect them from their own choices because they cannot control themselves.
Or maybe there are some of us that actually want intuitive UI. You know, a UI that doesn't jump sections randomly.

Not sure how it works on pc, but on console if you are opening containers and one of them has a furnishing diagram or a provisioning recipe inside, instead of staying in the container category the ui jumps to the consumable category. It is extremely goofy.
Containers are considered consumables by the game. They appear in consumables on PC
Recipe knowledge should be account wide.
They really need to stop the jumping around in the inventory. If I am in the container section I shouldn't randomly be jumping to the recipe section. It's dumb.

Sadly, on PS4, it jumps from "container" to "consumables" after opening. This should be removed. Just stay where I am in the inventory and please don't move around on me. Lag and latency have made me learn far more recipes/motifs on alts than I care to admit (the banker bug too).
Recipe knowledge should be account wide. But die hards who say I did this the hard way back in the day so you have to do the same effort, will cry and won't let the game evolve regarding crafting and other quality of life improvements.
My grand dad learned basic math with an abacus, yay, you should not use a smartphone until you master the abacus

This. They are separate categories on console. The thing is, I'm fairly certain this is something that changed (broke?) around the Summerset release. The highlighted item would always remain within whatever category you were in, unless it was the last item. And even when it was the last item being removed (such as opening a container) the highlighted item would move down a category I believe (instead of up into consumables). Learned so many recipes on the wrong character when this first changed, and so far one purple furnishing plan this event.

But I have found a trick to stop it, other than exercising some self control. Leave an already known recipe in you inventory, the cursor will flick up to that recipe, instead of your newly acquired furnishing plan.
Works for me.

Only if it sorts correctly. You would have to have an already learned one that starts with "zzz" to be confident of this.
