I wanna see how faction lock would actually play out in practice. After all, if such a change results in rather undesirable outcomes, it can be simply reverted again.

    It’s already been played out.

200+ queues to main campaign that people wait in, off camps turn to buff camps for one faction.

Sotha is far from a buff server.
Honestly we will have to monitor sotha after these changes and see how it plays out. It could be a server that takes a hit due to this.

IMO, it’s going to take a BIG hit there are more people swapping around to help out than people realize. I also don’t believe there is enough no cp popluation split between 2 no cp servers. I think it will hit EP & DC the hardest, it might affect the AD population during the day if it is still like it was, idk.

Before this last campaign, I would swap over to my DC after EP got pushed back to the gates, to fight AD.

You guys are clear that the faction lock is a soft lock right? Only thing it does is your main faction characters can climb the leaderboard, every othet char can join, farm ap. But will NOT get on the leaderboard, aka no end of month rewards. So you can still HELP if that was your motivation. But you can no longer get rewards from all factions. So, how does this hinder anything for the faction jumpers? You can still help. And the AP farmers that dont care how the map looks does not get any map reletated rewards but can still farmany faction they want.

But let me guess. This has nothing to do with you wanting to help out or farm. Its just about you guys not getting rewards on 15/15 characters from the end if the MAP game.

That is not what was described on stream during the Q&A. They said you will not be able to enter the campaign on another factions character.

If it was soft locks I wouldn't care at all. It's what I've even advocated for as a compromise for something like 1.5y
The problem, as always, is that zos never implements changes in a thought out manner. For example as we stated in Dracast 5. If ZoS simply made the leaderboard account based and added higher reward teir scaling along with a token system for rewards along with daily faction rewards etc it would incentivize faction play without locking. Note at the same time adding dynamic score scaling based on population would make campaigns more competitive (by reducing the effect of a night cap)
    But no.
As usual zos forces players into a style they may or may not be interested in without providing any benefits or complementary changes. This is the issue.

My understanding is that the intent is for all campaigns except the CP 7-day to be hard locked through the course of the campaign.

Though I prefer locks in games like this, I don't think it's practical to implement them now. It's important to remember that ZOS removed the locks completely after the outrage that trying to enforce them caused -- which was reasonable because players have made social connections based on the what they were permitted to do for years.

The only way ZOS will be successful in shaping player behaviour is by rapidly iterating its reward system. It's not enough to make one basic, blanket change once or twice a year. They need to keep working at this until they get it right with tweaks every month.

This would have been much better for everyone, better rewards for pvp players, and less rewards for teir 3 rewards farmers.

Also that's what I got out of the stream. They specifically mentioned it wouldn't be a soft lock.

Me too. I would have no problem with softlocks. I don't switch for leaderboard or eoc rewards.
It seems like that would be the best compromise. Those that switch to the underdog for some good fights won't care about leaderboard or end of campaign rewards because that's not what they're there for. And those that swap to the winning side killing the fun get nothing but ap. If they want up on that leaderboard, they had better stay where they are.

As for spies and scroll trolls well, anyone can do that with an alt account anyway. Eso standard edition is cheap as chips with the jubilee underway.

This was times when Cyrodiil buffs affected PvE, so every alliance had a buff campaign and even PvErs was trying to help in Cyrodiil to have as much buffs as possible. Now since there is no connection people can choose campaigns because of type of gameplay they want, not because their faction dominates certain campaign and they have to choose it to have advantage in PvE.
