I doubt that's the entire map. You'll notice that there are other white icons visible outside that area that's in full color.

Also, that area only shows one public dungeon (there are usually 2 in a Chapter zone) and one delve (there are typically several more than that).

So definitely wait until PTS. It's only a couple weeks away.

Going by the "Map Completion" information there are, Four more Wayshrines and Four more World Boss locations.
IMHO this is not the entire map.

I really do not think that's the Entire map. Probably just the starting area for the expansion. For example in Auridon you start on a small island.

This is the map they were bouncing around on the stream to show off Elsweyr (this being how I got the screenshot), so definitely not a tutorial zone unless the tutorial takes place in the zone proper. Note that we've got a World Boss icon at the top and what looks like the Trial at the bottom.

Why would that indicate that there is not more than one map of the area exactly. I don't see that that means anything.

    Sooooooo tiresome.

Let's complain about the 2020 Chapter's zone size instead.

It was already discussed (among those who inspected available content more thoroughly) that the new chapter takes places in Northern Elsweyr. So this map is all we get. Plus, probably, additional small locations which are not visible, similar to Summerset. What I dislike a bit about it is that it seems we have a canyon in the middle that will limit our traversing abilities by artificially increasing distances on the map

P.S. If you want to verify, that it is full map, check the number of items in the map completion list from the Zone Guide on the screenshot. It lists all objects of interest, which amount to proper sized chapter map. There is a chance, that southern Elsweyr would be also available, but currently there are indications that it is not so.

They stated during the stream that it is a similar size of Summerset.

Summerset has 13 or 14 wayshrines, Elsweyr only has 7. Seems to indicate it will be closer to half the size of Summerset.

Or maybe, just maybe, ZOS finally decided to make fewer wayshrines so we could actually travel more (I always felt that TES series were games of lore and travel, and fast travel made it worse experience for me in general). Though, I would really appreciate if we could be more free to travel without impediments of different landscape features. Summerset required more wayshrines, because it had even more convoluted layout than this one. Plus, Altmers should be more technologically advanced than Khajiits and have more time and resources to build more wayshrines

The map will not change, if they do something it's just add minor quests, things like that. A map is the first thing to do.

I would say wait until the PTS, but right off the bat.. I see a lot of mountains that look like they will have invisible walls so you can't climb them all the way up. I miss the Elder Scrolls days where if you could see it, you could go to it. I have spent hours in my life trying to climb mountains and get to the hidden places in past Elder Scrolls games. It was fun finding the "just the right way" to get up to where I wanted to go. That is something I really miss and hope someday, when I see a high mountain in an ESO game.. I can actually get to the top. *sigh*

I'm looking at it and there is absolutely nothing there to indicate scale. What are you using to determine size?

What do wayshrines have to do with map size? They could consciously be choosing to have fewer wayshrines to encourage more foot travel.

Looks like it's going to be 95% desert with just a small valley of green touching the borders of Pellitine. It WOULD be kinda awesome to see the Tenmar Forest and Pellitine's thick tropical jungles, but it's okay since either way we're getting kitty land.

I played a bit today, and happened to be in that very tiny tip area. That area alone was actually pretty large. I'd say this is easily the same playable area as Summerset, only not spread out into little avenues and nooks due to mountains. My initial take before seeing more of it.

I agree. But the dungeons shown on the map, and delves, are those discovered (And black when not completed). So in this screenshot he might just not have discovered the rest yet.

So it seems legit mapsize wise. But I rather wait for PTS. But I doubt it will get larger though.

    1. it is obvious that not all of the locations are discovered
    2. They are trying a different format for the year; Northern Elsweyr will be released this June and Southern Elsweyr will be released in the final quarter of the year. So it is possible that the South will be just as big as the North.

The south has already been confirmed to be the same size as Murkmire/CWC. Just like the north has been confirmed to be the same size as Summerset/Vvardenfell.
