Recently returned: Gear keeps breaking?

Each time I change characters my gear is broken again. It would be incredibly expensive to keep repairing it. I've asked customer support and they just said they are working on it.

Is there any sort of ongoing solution for this? Some sort of restitution?

    Are you sure its gear that's equipt and not extra sets? That is quite odd.

    I ran into this ages ago, back near launch. Never pinned down what the exact cause was, but they did sort it out. You may want to spend some time acclimating on alternate characters, who aren't dealing with this, or (if the character is below 160) just constantly cycle through your gear.

    A couple other threads on this:

    Items loosing durability and charges when you get DC or relog

    Random gear broken, can't put items in bank or chests

    It seems like a lot of the people affected had been gone for a while. Maybe because they skipped over another update, something goes wrong with the one-time data conversion when you first log in after update 21.

    Compensation usually only occurs when something goes catastrophically wrong and you're out real money. You might be able to get Customer Support to comp you a couple days for a weekend where the steam login servers were down, for example. (Though, the first response would be a solid, "no.")

    In this case, you're simply out repair kits or gold, so you're probably not going to get compensated for that because it's just in game resources.

    Again, my recommendation would be: Check your other characters, see if they're suffering from this problem as well. Try logging without having any equipped gear, see if that solves the issue. It might be a little cumbersome, but if your gear is degrading while offline only if it's equipped, that could solve the issue. Also, if it's only one set of gear that's degrading, you could replace it, (I realize this isn't an ideal solution.)

    But, yeah, experiment. See what the full behavior is.

    Alright, well thanks for all of the help. I suppose it'll work its self out. I can level a new character in the meantime.
