Saw couple of bots parked at mining nodes in Lion's Den yesterday. Didnt move, just automated node farming.

Hahah, how have I came into a thread to read a legitimate discussion about botters, only to see some absolute melts talking about "naming and shaming".

I get naming and shaming could be considered unfair on legit players who are just doing something wrong.. but against path-running bots it's hardly an issue, don't be babies you entire life.

The bots have been cashing in for ages - I actually used to see them years ago in Rivenspire at the scrap farm and the lead character would have his merchant behind him (they all crouched at the rocks) and they'd just sell in turn to the merchant.

In that video, it genuinely looks like a multi-boxer.

Let me know if I am off base here on this. In order for a BOT, to perform a function, or set of functions, wouldn't that require the games executable file to be altered in some way?

Years back I played the Delta Force series on the PC, it's a first person shooter game with extensive PVP play. At one point numerous programs were created that allowed the user to activate mods such as a god mode, unlimited ammunition, etc. The program could be turned off and on at will, it go so bad that NOVALOGIC dropped a program on their servers that scanned all the game exe. files, when anything altered was found, the player was booted, warned and in some situations permanent banning from PVP servers occurred. I'm not a programmer, but it seems like a good solution to the BOT problem, maybe?

Let me just quote myself here, as I am curious if that is a workable solution.

Also, they do ruin the gaming experience in my opinion. I forget what public dungeon I was in, but I was farming gear and there was a bot posted in an area that spawns a water flask, and a chest. The bot was there for several days, and it would beat me to the chest almost every time. Also, when farming in Craglorn I compete with BOTS on a regular basis. It definitely seems like cheating if an automated modification to the game can get a player tons of mats and in turn, gold.
