Or hes a grown up that can take a joke and knows the community is just having some good fun. No one is trying to be mean with the Lemon Turtle fanart and jokes. Its the community embracing him as the new loremaster. If it bothered him, he is more than capable of telling us so, he doesnt need you to come to his rescue.
Now back to the topic of the pet. I personally think the turtle should have some beard like growth on the chin. Maybe the turtle can be a sort of "the world is on the back of a turtle" type elder turtle.
