Mail and a "What If" MAIL SCAMP!

This one was wondering...from anywhere, practically, we can send mail. What is that "mail?" Like, is there a mail man?
Also, I love those trove/cunning scamps!
...

So, I was like what if! When we sent mail (maybe if you dont pay the postage???) it was taken by something like one of these scamps and hopped along in and out of portals til it gets to its destination?
with the idea that = if intercepted half, or all, of the mail was lost to the person lucky enough to stumble up on the "Mail Scamp!"
and = we could upgrade it's stats and stuff.

IDK, i thought it was a fun idea but now I'm worried it will get pooped on.

I love the scamp as delivery service-- seriously, how fun is that? Answer: too much  On the other hand, gambling with mail-- no way, no how. Mail is a fundamental service in MMOs. It shouldn't be messed with.

yes of course, that's why i had to add that part about if you choose not to pay the postage. ;-)

It would be a very nice idea if ESo were a single player game. As far as I know, delivery pet service and stuff like that is widely implemented in inventory management designs for single player games.

But in an MMO, it's just impossible. As already mentioned, it's a fundamental service and should be 100% reliable. And should it be 100% reliable (no RNG, pure cosmetics), it would be fun the first 5 minutes, and then a true annoyance for the rest of the game. Like Nuzimeh and her fellow banker Andromo. They're pretty handy and useful, but noone thinks they're nice or fun to look at anymore.

A "scamp service" could be implemented in parallel to the mail system, not replacing it. With a risk of loosing stuff. Nice idea, but what would be the reward for using it ?

I'm seeing some unfun stuff happening with that. Like guild traders going cheap and you wind up losing your purchase. Your hirelings revolt and all you get is a sad, "Scamp stole your mail" message.

ah! good point, can't be applied to guild trader mail or maybe the immersion isn't broken if we think of tax taking care of the mail? :-)

im thinking someone wants something very cheap...say, 10 iron ingots.

well, i don't think iron ingots are worth anything really so i'm like, "f that 10 gold i have to pay!" i'll send them on the cheap scamp mail! :-)

like i said, its not meant to replace anything already in place...more of

replace the mandatory fee on a mail. there could be tons of failsafes too...like

you're sending 100 alloy!? you have elected not pay the cod fee? are you sure? yes. are you sure? yes. are you sure? yes. are you sure? yes. are you sure? yes. are you sure? yes.

I am certain that I already have a mail scamp. That's how my friends receive my mail. Like a post owl but a post scamp.

Came here to read about a new mail scam, thought that OP misspelled the word. The idea is fun, though, it definitely have a feeling of some sort of scam, that I couldn't figure out.

I would also like an ability to kick scamp's ass the next time he appears after losing my mail. And then scamp would scurry away to whatever oblivion pocket plane he uses to transport mail so fast.

P.S. Later we could also add a postal mud crab

Never mind. Totally misread the initial post. That's a terrible idea. Having the game steal our mail? Really terrible idea. Probably worse than a "Jump! To Conclusions" mat.

There is no way I want anyone to even have a chance to "steal" my mail. Broken suggestion.

Now if you want to just add it as a visual effect, I'm on board with that.

I chose 'other' just because the other negative was too negative. Having mail get intercepted would cause all manner of heartache. I would also worry about the resources that would need to be consumed with a bunch of mail scamps all over the place.
Taking stealth away from the Bosmer is like taking magic away from the Altmer, making Nords allergic to mead, or making Orcs pretty.

it would be cute as a passive mechanic, like everyone time you got a mail a scamp would jump out of a portal in front of you and then disappear after a few seconds back into the portal, but i DO NOT Think mail should be a riskable object, that'd be too controversial and problematic.

it is an interesting concept but I do not think we need to mess with the mail. Chance are more likely it will break something that currently works fine.
    Really, idk
