WHY make one of the event tickets tied to the Dark Brotherhood prequest of murdering someone?

And regarding the tickets... are the Impressarios offering anything other than berries and feathers, yet? (Or is that change coming with Elsweyr?)
I'm at the 12 ticket limit (too murdery, I guess), but I'm not going after any of the Indrik stuff.

If you want to remain the "good guy", just roleplay it:

You're not a real hero until you've walked the path of self-conquest, penance, and redemption. So, get bit by a vampire or werewolf so you can black out and go into a bloodlust for a few weeks until the event is over. Then your "real" consciousness can start waking up, fighting back, and conquering the disease. See: it wasn't you. It was the monster, and you slayed it.

When it's all said and done, you can even walk away with a smaller detection radius on horseback, which is extremely helpful.

If you want to maximize tickets you have to play every event even if it involves content that you're not interested in (PvP, dungeons, etc.), but you don't need to do every event if you want the minimum of one evolved indrik. Also the anniversary event will last 5 weeks and give you two tickets for just eating cake once a day, so unless you're allergic to cake or watching your waistline you can afford to skip an event you don't like.

    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Lots of pieces of this overall 'Indrik' event. Enough opportunities were intentionally programmed in so you would not have t participate in every single aspect. I'm not touching the DB for example. I know other folks that avoided the PvP portion of the event. And still others who avoided the group dungeon parts. You can get up to two or three times the tickets you need so simply avoid any aspects that you don't like. It's a game. :)

I think I am asking a legitimate question here.

It doesn't matter if this is a game or what. WHY is there a prerequisite to murdering an innocent NPC just to unlock an event quest?

100% agree...a little harsh language should totally do the trick...maybe even a mean sideways glance...

I get that, but its stupid that they require you to MURDER an innocent NPC just to unlock event quests.
Regarding the event I agree, role play vise its bad. For the guild quest itself its good.

Remember hating getting DB invites in Oblivion for sniping bandits who was neutral at this quest stage or killing daedra in the war in shimmering isles.

I liked the TG start quest in Skyrim, not how it was jumped on you but the starting quest, yes we know you are sneaky and can get in pretty much everywhere but can you handle the criminal life, beat up this people for me.

Not attacking or anything, but I am genuinely interested to understand your perspective. Say someone wants to roleplay an evil character but no innocent killing is allowed in the game, how will that work? My main is a Chaotic Neutral NB who does whatever seems the most fun, morality no bar. I feel just thinking up some head canon about the character if this bothers you.

People like to play different styles. Not everyone will like ALL of the events that will go on to get tickets and that is why there are so many of them; it gives you the freedom to pass those events which bother you.

I can relate to how you feel about violence, as there is too much of it in real life, the books we read, or the movies & TV we watch. However... its also been a part of interesting stories since literally the 'dawn of mankind'. Stories that catch the imagination have all in them: love, hate, kindness, cruelty, cowardice, bravery, greed, generosity, good, bad, etc. Conflict, plain & simple...otherwise the story is one dimensional.

That said, this game does a fairly good job of hitting plenty of all those conflicts, but is far less gory then the movies or TV series (think 'Game of Thrones') that are popular.

I usually play a character who is a neutral/good person. Because I have played almost everything in this world, I went outside my usual fantasy-self and tried the Dark Brotherhood. Yes, at times it makes me squirm...but it is also Fantasy! Its outside my play-style, but I do have to appreciate (and yes...laugh) at some of the diabolical dialog!

No offense, but is this your first video game? Except for pure puzzle games or tetris-like stuff, almost every video game involves killing to a certain extent. What do you think happens to all those Gumbas or Koopas Mario jumps on regularly? Or to the poor creatures Yoshi swallows whole and then farts back out again as eggs? ;)

Point being my real life views are kept for real life. I enjoy playing video games as a break from life and a hobby. Just because I do something in a game it doesn’t infringe on my real life beliefs or mean that I advocate them. This game is for adults, 18+ it is also just pixels. I get people want to role play but there’s limits.
