Draining Shot did not get fixed. At all.

As of PC/Mac v4.3.6, it still exhibits its old behaviour with zero discernable difference:
  • CC still cannot be broken during the knockback
  • This unbreakable duration still gets extended if the knockback sends you down a terrain gradient, or into a freefall
...both of which were the most egregiously broken aspects of the skill.

It's time to completely recode this poopheap of an ability.

    I haven't been hit by all that many Draining Shots since the 4.3.5 patch (and haven't played with 4.3.6 at all yet), but in that limited anecdotal experience my break free did seem noticeably more reliable. Did something get broken again with 4.3.6, or was it not working for you in 4.3.5 either?

    Not in 4.3.5 either. I waited a week post-update 21 launch to get enough experience with the supposed changes, and am confident the break mechanics are identical to pre-Wrathstone.

    It’s very different from dizzy swing which can be broken mid air.

    With CCs like Destructive Reach, Silver Leash and Reverb in this game Drain Shot doesn't need "fixed" unless the aforementioned CCs get "fixed" along with it.

    Destro reach is breakable during the knockback, and Reverb is breakable during the stagger animation.

    The only one you got right is Silver Leash, which does indeed have a window of unbreakability, and should absolutely be addressed.

    Hhmm I don't agree on the part of the old behavior. Before, at random, you couldn't CC break even after the knockback finished. You'd be kneeling on the ground unable to CC break. I haven't experienced that since the patch, at least not in BGs where CC break works far more reliably than Cyrodill.

    Yes, you still can't break it during the knockback and yes that period is extended for however long you're falling for. But that wasn't the only problem of versions pre-4.3. They did fix the main issue.

    Does current version of Draining Shot behave differently to Flame Reach? I have noticed but in theory it shouldn't. They are supposed to be near equivalent skills in functionality, or at least that's what ZOS said when they increased the range.

    these guys Hate bow and archer skills, they will make threads constantly bashing Bow skills and Bow skill line (including snipe) and saying it is broken.
    it will not end untill the moderators stop them from spaming these threads.
    archers fight me as well, i fight archers, i get hit with draining shot and break free from it, there is nothing wrong with bow and bow skills and especially nothing wrong with draining shot.

    and by the way, using draining shot on someone, all it does is push them off us and allow us a chance to keep them (the enemy) at a distance, they hate that, they hate being at a distance, because they want to be right on top of us constantly spaming THEIR unbreakable CC's, draining shot "is" breakable and when i use it to keep enemy away from me they break free from it immediate.
    what is unbreakable is THEIR CC's. not draining shot.

    the only thing that is wrong with Bow and Bow skills is the cast times on it, it takes too long to hit people, the cast time on bow skills needs to be shortened.

    I don’t hate archers, I love them being on the opposite team!

    I don’t understand the snipe hate. It’s relatively weak compared to other abilities considering the cast time. I think the people who don’t like it are wardens, and they don’t like that people are using single target abilities. You’re supposed to rush them so they can permafrost and aoe you down.

    To be fair the reverb break is pretty messed up a lot of the time. Not to the extent of draining shot because it has no knock back, but if cancelled properly reverb can prevent breakfree.

    As a side not I had a weird instance yesterday where I consumed an immov pot and then was very clearly CCd by fossilize a second or two after. Thats never been an issue before.

    A lot of people are still spamming the skill. Break free is a bit more responsive, but still annoyingly unreliable.

    Happens to me all the time. Immovable pot to engage - BAM - fossilized or knocked back by draining shot or even better, I ignore the rune cage cause I have immovable active, right? - nope, get CCed . I check and hell yeah my pot is on CD.

    CC break as of murkmire feels like pure butt cheeks. I used to break free of flame reach before my character would even touch the ground. Now my character enjoys a second and a half vacation from the fight while laying on the ground. It's a nuisance getting CC'd now and just an all around pain in the arse. Fix it Zo$.

    Nah dude it's definitely broke. There were like 3 days that I saw more silver leash than draining shot, until everyone realized draining was still broken and went back to it.. unbreakable if knocked off a ledge, unbreakable until after the knockback completes.

    I'd like to see video footage of people breaking it immediately, please and thanks.

    Weak? It hits as hard as incap, applies major defile, or minor breach. 40+ meters away, spammable, stuns in stealth if you’re a Nb, extremely buggy and desync’s people.
    This skill should be deleted entirely.

    Now for counter arguments.
    It has a cast time,
    doesn’t matter when you’re 40+ meters away and the enemies don’t even see you

    Most snipe builds are squishy
    Once again, doesn’t matter when you can get carried by cloak spamming as soon as someone detects your presence

    It’s reflectable.
    There’s 5 classes, only 1 has a reflect ability. This argument is invalid

    Slot radiant mage light.
    Gimping yourself by slotting an absolutely useless ability only good for one instance that prevents being stunned from stealth but aside from that doesn’t prevent desync.
    Also doesn’t matter how many times you cast if a snipe spammer is 40+ meters away, you won’t be finding them.

    Snipe is a cancer to the game and should be adjusted or completely deleted
