What’s the build?I'm doing VMA as we speak, just waiting for my quest to reset. I had tons of difficulty here until I started using the Magicka Sorcerer 1-Bar Pet Build, it made things x10 easier and gave me enough breathing room to learn the mechanics of each stage. My first clear was 2 days ago, now I can do all stages with only 1-2 deaths and I'm #77 on the Sorcerer leaderboards!

My templar is a flawless conquerer, my sorc pet build (pre shield nerf) barely made stormproof.
Nothing can substitute firsthand knowledge and experience, but you can shore up a lot of confusion using guides. Joy Division has a great one on the forums here somewhere, and there are several youtube videos.
If you go stam, consider 2h/bow with fortified brass and vicious ophidian. Tougher, faster, more sustain and more burst than dual wield.

Interesting. Medium armour?
WW can legitimately carry you in vma. I got flawless in less than 10 total runs across all characters. Took a few rounds of frustrated googling, but once you figure out when and how to do what, WW is laughably easy in there.
You could be handed a Flawless build and still fail a million times. The build isn't what makes vMA any 'easier', IMO. It's exposure and familiarity.
Jump on a class you enjoy and go die a lot. Then die less. Then don't die.
