Sadly, that's a a sign of our times. Everything these days is considered racist. It's gotten so absurd it's laughable and the word really has no meaning anymore it's been so over-used.

I would just join a different guild that isn't so stupidly PC.

Its just the times we live in. It is considered racist for saying that a black person is from a country with the majority of it being of African descent. And its even more sad and funny at the same time that it is only ok to say that if you are black, and that the same rules do not apply at all when saying that you are a white person from a country with the majority of it being of Caucasian descent.

You could talk with those guilds leaders about this yourself. Point is if people are being to sensitive they should keep those issues out of the game really. This isn't real life, Redguards are not Africans. Even though they have the skin tone. They are a race of men and are a strong warrior race. Maybe they have an issue with his name being tied to a real life country. Its not in the terms of service but it is in the code of conduct. If Zenimax knew about it they might make him change it because he is directly telling his national origin within his name. So you friend could be himself in violation of the rules for having the name Zimbabwe and also having a direct reference to a real life supposedly considered race and nation. Fact is we are all the same race so it does not really matter what color of skin personally but there is so many out there that still thinks different skin tone means another race not of their own, when that is completely false . Because of this they want to keep that type of thing out. So I would tell him to change it anyways because of the code of conduct might not even allow national pride or racial pride within his name because of the issues it can cause like this one. Which is why the Code of Conduct is there to prevent issues like this.

Suggestion....Take the path of least resistance and join a guild that would accept him regardless of his choice in names. I wouldn't want to join a guild that already has an issue with me.

Character names not so freely unless its forced or through a name change slot, luckily we got three free race name changes yesterday so he could use one to change it. His best bet would have a name called Redguard from Sentinel. Redguard from Alik'r. Both would be much better I think and more accepted.

Can you point me to that rule? Because I have an Altmer named London and I've not had an issue. Plus, there are many people who have names that are actual places, so where is the line drawn?

It isn't race or anything like that but the fact he has a real county in his name. Say for example you make a character and call him USABritain, they could possibly force you to change the name or you can't log in with it.. Same goes for in lore powerful Daedric Prince names. Someone made a Sheogorath Look Alike and once had a thread about him being Forced to name change because he used the Name Sheogorath. So there is some things they don't allow and if they find out about them could force that player to change it. I think this is one of those issues. Because the Thread Posters Friend has named his character or account after a real life country or political entity that would qualify as possibly being against the code of Conduct and thus subject to a possible force name change.

Heh. Racism. That is old news. The real thing that is getting people riled up is gender identity politics. I don't think anyone really takes "Muh racism" on the internet seriously anymore.

I would know, had some cabbage get riled up against me for having opimioms that were not favorable to the idea of letting people play their delusions of being a woman, when they are in fact a man.

(Seriously, racism is bad, but the name given "Redguard from Zimbabwe" is not racist, and anyone who thinks that is stupid.)

Racism is attributing derogatory characteristics to people because of them.(^^)

What kind of derogatory attribute is being created by the term "Redguard from Zwimbabwe"?
On a side note, aren't redguards reassembling on purpose the black race, nords the N-EU caucasian one etc?

If any, ZOS should be blamed (although good luck to the one making the step to debate such a thing...)
