They've created a monopoly on content completion.

Nothing is stopping others from doing the same thing.

The entirety of the Console playerbase are firmly stopped from competing for two weeks while PC gets free reign.

And even in the PC playerbase only those who go through whatever hoop exists to participate on the PTS get to have additional weeks testing and getting familiarized with the content ahead of time. Whenever the PTS introduces new Dungeons or a new Trial Hodor uses that period to practice the content until they know just what builds to use, what mechanics to remember, etc until they have the run down, and then when it hits live they know exactly what to do immediately while most others are getting their feet wet. There's no real competition whatsoever with this.

This post though is on leaderbord scores (not first clears), and any group putting the work in can have a stake on that.

Console can't compete with top PC guilds for a number of other reasons (that aren't related to player skill I will mention) and those PTS weeks are virtually meaningless considering these trials have all been out a while. And there are a lot of PC guilds that spend considerable time on PTS and considerable effort on live trying to get to the tier Hodor is at. Hodor doesn't win because they play PTS. They could NOT play PTS and still decimate everyone.

Which pretty much frees up the on-console World Record list when it becomes available.

Option two is taking every world record from them when it does become available.

I used to think the mandatory delay before posting would somehow even the playing field, but the reality is two-fold: First, if they have a month's 'practice' on PTS, they'd have a month's practice on Live. Little would change in that regard.

Second, pretty sure this group isn't doing what they do because they've got the jump on some other group. It's a combination of crazy skill and crazy dedication. If another group has a true competitive chance, that doesn't change because they have a starting delay - it only delays the results. This is even more prevalent considering most of this is far from new content - base mechanics haven't changed in years.

Call it a hunch, but I somehow doubt their scores will fall off the board in a few months' time.

If you really want to get down to brass tacks, they're using the same opportunities and options available to anyone out there. So, unless there's some unwritten rule or code I've not heard of, this argument simply doesn't fly.

They're good because they're good, not because they're shirking the system somehow. If ZoS was truly concerned about 'leveling the playing field,' the Devs could easily implement a leaderboard posting delay.

FTR, I'm not some kind of Hodor fanboi. I just think badassery deserves to be recognized for the badassery it is, regardless of the source.

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...
