High latency

I consistently have higher than usual ms (170) while playing, and it frequently spikes to 700-999+. Nothing on my end is streaming or downloading and I don't have this issue in any other game; For example, in WoW I've consistently had 30-40ms with no spikes. What's the deal? Is there something wrong with my client or are these servers just not good?
