ZOS Let Us Design Our Own Tabards

This should be a feature. I was trying to make a cool looking Templar outfit and a lot of Templar concept art features a tabard of some sort and it got me thinking why not just let people design their own? Is there some reason they don’t? Doesnt really take away from guild tabards since people who want to show their guild solidarity can still wear the same one. “Normal” tabards could even be really simple maybe just a fill color and a border color or something, so that guilds could keep the unique symbols. I think they could probably be varying lengths to a certain extent as we know cloaks don’t work, so maybe not too long, and it would be great if the ends of some could be ragged, tapered, or straight cut etc. Would be a cool addition imo. Would make a great PvP reward.

I can see people making some very rude tabards if this is implemented

That, and copyrighted designs/art theft. Those are some of the main reasons this will never be a thing.

Pretty sure the OP is talking about being able to make a tabard untied to any guilds, not uploading custom images.

Have you seen how tabards look? It's literally low polygon ugliness. The sides which are not covered by tabard are just painted black with no texture whatsoever and look horrendous. "Cool looking outfit" and "tabard" should never go in one sentence.

The tabard deletes your chest armor though.

Considering how they approached the outfit system, it'll cost you. The whole damn lot. But, hey, once in a while there will be 50% discount!

There are performance impacts to things like this. I think ZOS has already sacrificed enough client performance for visuals. We don't need to give the client more work to do when we approach that 40v40v40 fight.

The first issue is it requires Zos to design a system for accepting and implementing such designs. The benefit just might not be enough for them to go through the effort.

Second, and the biggest issue, it requires Zos to have a review system and to tell players their design cannot he added for whatever reason, quality and content being relevant issues.

That alone creates headache and overhead that is just not worth it.

I'd prefer a 'Hide Tabard' option

I can only imagine it as its in battlefield 4. You can make your own emblem on battlelog. Can use any motives what you earned earlier. But cannot use own pictures. But that would be a bad idea here.

Doesn’t seem like anyone read the post lol. I said a simple tabard with a fill color and a boarder no emblems or anything.

Idk can you cause a lot of trouble with two basic colors and no designs lmao.

This is true perhaps. I’d leave that up to ZOS. Though I sincerely doubt everyone would wear one and doesn’t it go in place of chest armor?

Meh, so then don’t wear one. Plus if they did it again I’m sure they’d redesign it a bit.
