How do you feel about racial changes and lore?

I don't care about lore. I want races that provide build diversity. In my opinion the changes provide that build diversity. If you say a certain race is better than another race for your build and play style then by all means use that race. But, don't knock what other people see as good just because it doesn't match your vision of what the game should be.

Context: The Elder Scrolls is a decade old game series that has established a rich well of lore and stories in a predominantly RPG setting where the choice of race has always affected how you play, how you perform at certain actions and how the game world responds to you. Because the games jump years and locations there are few if any static characters to give the series as a whole a face. The races are that face.

The eyes and perspective through which we view the ES world. The racial history, dynamics, etc are among the first things we learn about in each adventure. ESO does not exist in a vacuum and much of it's popularity and player base are benefits of the ES games that came before.

It is one thing to make adjustments for balance but to take a hacksaw to something as integral as Bosmer stealth while already acknowledging criticism for heavy handed and sweeping changes is a bad move.

According to lore Nords are conquerors, and mighty, hardy warriors. In this game they're a joke.

Anyone who has ever done some looking around the Elder Scrolls lore would know that gameplay =\= lore. If ZOS totally based their balancing on the lore than game would be a catastrophic unbalanced mess. You don't need to use the lore excuse to argue against the balance changes.

Admittedly, it is a bit weird. It's even more weird when you compare them to the racials from Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. You'll realize that the race that specializes in 2H weapons is relegated to tanking and the race that specializes in defense is now highest damage (that's Orc).

Imo, I think both Nords and Argonians need to be looked at again. It's just boring if the ONLY role people can see them being in is either a healer or tank. Maybe Imperials too but I think they have a good thing going for them as of the recent patch notes.

Nords received +10 for Two Handed weapons, and +5 for light armor (which would be medium armor in ESO), and Orcs had +5 for Two Handed, and +10 for heavy armor in Skyrim.

ESO completely botched these racial passives. Nords should be the high damaging race in ESO, not Orcs. I'm truly disappointed. I've played as a Nord since Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, and they're about to make Nords so bad that I feel obligated to change him into an Orc; a race that I've never liked.

See? Dunmer also had speed and stamina stuff but in this game they were stuck with that ridiculous fire damage. Good riddance.

If you look at the information provided you would see that Dunmer have Destruction Magic (Fire, Shock, Ice) as one of their most consistent major skills throughout the series. With the removal of elemental Damage ESO becomes an outlier in this regard.
