Why not revert this mess and buff the other races to be on par with the rest and have Zos focus on game performance, making an actual difference for once. So they don't keep having to give excuse after lame excuse.... :*

You notice them In Oblivion playing an female Bosmer or Khajiit because of the low starting strength. Increasing it became critical even on magic builds just to carry more loot.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

It seems Zos is stepping away from % increases in stat. irrc, the only % passives left deal with crit which we talk about that as a % anyhow.

Part of the goal seems to be to simplify how the passives affect balancing the game while also keeping the TES flavor of having passives. I also suspect it is to make server side calculations simpler, hence less load on the server.

I also expect a pretty solid change to CP when they finish the review there so brace yourself.

But... you've just described how the weapons work now in ESO...
Has an non set bow with powered trait, will trade for an vMA bow with any trait.

I totally agree. I would change my race in every zone. I wish I could be a Bosmer in Valenwood, Argonian in Murkmire and Altmer in Summerset. I would change races like I change outfits now. I would gladly pay for this.

You can do that now. If you cannot then there is nothing OP has suggested that would change that.

I am an Argonian in Auridon and a High Elf in Glenumbra.

Why not give everyone the same stats, the same hp, and the same skills, and make magicka vs stamina the same, and give us all the same weapons, and the same mounts, from the same alliance?

    Why not?

Why not read posts before commenting? Then you'd know that nothing at all would change about gameplay. Nothing. At. All. The post is about separating cosmetic character choices (which a segment of the player population cares about) from stat passives, not about eliminating stat passives.

@myskyrim26, in Skyrim the buffs were pretty negligible. From Arena through Oblivion they were pretty significant. They'd affect your starting stats and starting skills, being able to start with 45 or 50 marksman on a Bosmer was bonkers. Also the Breton and High Elf magicka increases were things you could never replicate on another race. Arena Dunmer could, flat out, walk through lava. Argonian waterbreathing is a major perk, and opens up a lot of areas you don't usually have access to (even in Skyrim), Khajiit night vision was also been pretty worthwile... at least until Skyrim decided to make the nights so bright you'd never need it.

But, yeah, racial picks were huge in older games.

If you never played to the endgame, maybe. In Oblivion and Skyrim it was easily possible - without exploits - to reach near godmode where race was absolutely irrelevant. For the most part, no race contributed anything of substance to the endgame, and the few exceptions (waterbreathing) were trivial and easily obtained without sacrificing any character power. Race only mattered at the start.

Tell that to every ES game before now. Race gave initial skill/stat bonuses, but was effectively cosmetic at endgame.

Tell that to an Altmer in Morrowind when they get hit by literally any spell and get 50% more damage. Even Skyrim stuck to the resistance passives from races (while getting rid of the weaknesses).
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.
