How does new bosmer roll peneration make sense logically?

Well, there is difference between race passives and set. You may freely swap PVP and PVE sets, depending on content, but race swap will cost you 3k crowns each time.

And even PVP-wise bosmer is weaker then orc and redguard with new changes, since those 2 were buffed, while bosmer nerfed. In PVE.. no comments, weakest race for any role.

Maybe rolling puts a spin on the arrow and that causes it to whistle loudly thereby getting the attention of the gods who buff it with extra penetration.

It doesnt even make sense that Bosmer can move at the same speed as other races since Bosmer have much shorter legs.

Haha, look at fastest real-life sprinters, they are short..

No, they are not. They are in the most part all tall. Bolt is a few cm shy of 2m.
On topic, it doesn't make much sense, but at least it makes more sense than the Altmer "pumping iron" passive.

Trying to make sense of ANY change to the Bosmers in that update is a lost cause.

"They are hunters, so they will detect stealthed things". Even though a hunter is someone who remains discreet to avoid being seen by their prey. Even though, from the maths team's own words, nothing is stealthed in game besides players. Even though Bosmers will now be as stealthy as Orcs or Nords, which makes perfect nonsense. Even though lorewise Bosmers are more thieves than hunters, even having an epic named "The 1000 benefits of hiding" and the Rite of Theft. Even though they have had stealth bonus in every Elder Scrolls game ever.

But sure, they tried to respect the lore. I can see why the Lore Master at ZOS quit his job. I'd do that too if it were my job, wouldn't want to be blamed for allowing that.

Well... euh... Oh I know! It's because moving gives the arrow a starting velocity that increases it's total velocity thus increasing the penetration! Also only Bosmer are skilled/precise enough for a trickshot like that. Who cares about the direction of the dodgeroll anyway.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

This is the best change for my play style since I am not a pesky snipe ganker and a get in get out nb that runs Senche set with 3 well fitted for some mad 1vX NB godliness with 6k weapon damage . This is gonna be nasty 😲

Well, there is difference between race passives and set.

Not according to the devs, there isn't. Since, according to them bosmer can get their stealth back by wearing the proper sets.

<sarcasm>"See? You can still play a sneaky, stealthy wood elf just like you always did. Never mind that your tiny, nimble bosmer can now be only as sneaky and stealthy as a 7 foot tall big, burly Nord or Orc." </sarcasm>

Rolling around, in a tree, makes zero sense. Leaping and swinging around would be more appropriate. Rolling just gives them a chance to learn how to fall from a great height.

Well... it fits so well for my Bosmer lass that it makes me giggle gleefully whenever I think about it. Were she a person in our world, she'd probably be diagnosed with ADHD. She's plucky, sassy, and constantly on the move... plinking arrows into this, that, and the other thing. The sets I have her use are based on mobility and dodge rolling. Needless to say I was just delighted when I saw the first pass of the changes (well, except that useless stealth detection passive) and still am with the revision.

That said, I'll be the first to admit that my prioritization of character design and creativity means my builds are often kind of weird (original, non-copypaste, whatever you want to call it). The changes are great for my ADHD arrow plinking Bosmer lass (oh, did I mention she's also a werewolf with some anger management issues?), but I'm not blind to the fact that my brand of weird is ill-suited to most of the player base.

Yeah but using penetrations means you actually have to Target someone. This set is different.

Short bursts of speed cause they are smaller and more nimble makes sense logically and lore wise.

Because Bosmers need to roll to become efficient?

BOSS: Why are you rolling when I haven't done anything yet?

    BOSMER: It increases my damage.

    BOSS: Seriously?

There have been and will continue to be numerous explanations. The one that makes the most sense is that there will be increased crown sales from these changes. They should just rename the game at this point. It only has vague similarities to a TES game now. It's homogenized and generic in every aspect. I'd be willing to place a large wager that 90% or more of people defending the proposed changes have never played a TES game. At most, maybe they started with Skyrim. The people in charge are using the TES name and reputation to sell their game and contents, but at this point, it's no longer a real TES game.

If ESO were true to the single player games, there would be no racial passives except the learn X skill quicker ones.

In the single player games there weren't any racials which gave any race an advantage over others in terms of combat / magic power other than in the very early game. One you maxed your skills - which every race could do - everyone was equal.

And there were a few inconsequential passive like argonians having underwater breathing. Which really was inconsequential since there was little to no underwater content and everyone else could easily cast that as a spell or wear it as enchant.

While the imminent changes don't bring ESO back in line with the single player games, they do bring it closer. So from that perspective they're an improvement.

Unfortunately the specifics are less shiny. Like bosmer getting a pvp only racial bonus screws anyone who doesn't pvp.

And while their rationale for these changes is to make more race / class / role combinations viable , they stripped one race (bosmer) of thieving bonuses and now only khajiit have them.

    WTF?!

I don't think it's something you explain as much 'logically' with reference to physiology; but you can certainly make sense of it as the Wood Elf rapidly relocating to get a better vantage point of their quarry - and thus get a better shot in. :p

Nah you would have less focus after movement then coming to a stop. If they want something dynamic least higher penetration while moving making sense.

Yeah, I already looked, best sprinters are actually tall. Though from school/college/university experience I remember short sturdy guys were always better in short distances.

Yeah I feel bad for all those main altmers. I am just trying to imagine the fallout if it goes live from those that don't follow pts. On point though, bosmer is my main class so had to pick my battle. 😅 And race change my altmer to Nord.

@Tasear @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_Gilliam In my opinion, this passive should work in two different ways: moving and standing. "Mantle of Siroria" is a good example. But you don't have to deal direct damage. You just need not move.

    Wood Elf
    • Hunter’s Eye: Increases your Stealth detection radius by 3m. While you are not moving, a small ring is created beneath you for 6 seconds. Standing in the ring grants you a stack of Hunter’s Eye for 3 seconds. Each stack increases your Physical and Spell Penetration by 330. 5 stacks max. After you use Roll Dodge you gain 10% Movement Speed for 3 4 seconds.
5 stacks max. = 1650 Physical and Spell Penetration.

I got a feeling that ZOS mismatched altmer and bosmer changes. I mean penetration looks more useful for altmer and restore of lowest resource looks better on bosmer cause it will give burst of magicka for cloak.
