What happens if current Emperor abandons campaign

Does emperor get passed on to someone else? Does no one else become emperor? Is it affected by the current state of the keeps? Does another alliance still have to take ALL emperor keeps before a new player from the same alliance as the old emperor to become the new emperor?

Yep, nothing happens. Your alliance suffer as everyone's coming for you and you don't have the emp to fight back.

Another alliance have to flip it, and then your alliance flip it back to regain emp.

Basically it screws the alliance!

eh... It screws the alliance but its not like Cyrodiil goes around a complete cycle ones every day. Within 24 hours all will be back to normal.

Back in the early days of the game, like 2014, if an emperor left and then there was a server maintenance the person with the 2nd highest AP for that faction, now highest cause the emp left, would become emperor without having to lose and retake everything. Knew a few people that got their emperorships that way in old dead campaigns. Pretty sure it doesn't work like that anymore.

(You can't crown a new emp until you are "dethroned," but at the same time you don't have emp)
