Do you use 2 PC to play with the same account? I had the same problem with my laptop. Steam always give problems. :(

And so day three of the epic download dawns... only 24 hours to go, I hope. I tried the Steam beta as suggested, it just restarted the download, at a slightly smaller size.

I mean it when I say I truly feel horrible for everyone launching through Steam. I'm only allowed 1TB data per month so ESO would have me penalized if I were in your shoes lol.

Think I'm gonna take a break from the game... This is ridiculous

Some have reported success on completely uninstalling and reinstalling, but again- It's a success that may vary from person to person. I'd say it wouldn't hurt to try if you're patient enough to wait through it and then report findings!

Made a clean install but same problem.
Steam support said to repair the library, which nuked all my games.
Now talking with steam support again.
I was asked to reinstall steam, and then ESO.
    Will report back.

My downloads were both around 70-75gb and took five hours, so I feel like I lucked out at that. Steam is evil and rotten and I rue the day I bought the game through it. And it was after the cutoff date. I *loathe* Steam.

Steam has always been crap. I know you like the idea of having access to other Steam games, but they suck badly. Since you have to reinstall anyway, why not download the real game from the ESO site and be done with it?

Like addressed in the other threads (and in this thread too), if you've bought the game through Steam after November 2016 you can't. If it was that simple, these topics wouldn't exist every time Steam has an issue.

Why doesn't it work? Because prior to November 2016, people who bought the game through Steam had to create an actual ESO ID Account (The ESO64.exe fix you hear people talking about). When the Steam Integration program was implemented, those who bought the game had to use their Steam ID. Meaning they don't have an actual ESO ID Account. While they still get the same support as those with ESO ID Accounts, they also have a pile of problems to worry about from Steam's side. So that's why they can't just download the game through ESO's site and be done with it. There isn't any character transfers from account to account either. So people who've spent over 5,000 in the game, their gear, their achievements, is essentially non-transferable.

*(Account titles may be called something different, this is just how it's been explained in other threads. Regardless, it still won't work as you described.)

All y'all with these issues, next time there's a sale on the game from ESO, buy it, then you can set up an account with ESO and never have to mess with steam again.

Yes. I did that. I had SO many issues with steam in June 2018 when I first started playing. There was a sale in the ESO store late June ($10 or something), I re-bought the game, made an ESO account, and haven't had any issues since cutting steam out of the mix.

BTW.... the game is still installed in the steam library folder. Works just fine though.... you don't need to re-download, reinstall, etc.

If you went through the dl, your screwed.
I stop the dl, opt in the beta steam ***.
Works fine after that with no dl.
    Still playing eso.
