Encase is not used a lot because of the way it is targeted. Talons are an AoE around you, encase is only in front of you. In many fights mobs generally move around you so you will be unable to keep them all stuck with encase, even with silver leash pulls.
There are certain fights however, like moonhunterkeep hm, where encase is very powerful.

Better than nothing though, like Nb tanks. Time Stop is kinda slow and caltrops are meh, so glad Sorcs have a class cc.

Are you really sure about that?

As a tank, selfish sets arent bad. They give you a higher chance to survive - and that is, what you really want by tanking bosses. A dead tank is a group wipe (normally).

There are only two points, you would go for support sets, experience and dd buffing. Its not because yokeda is selfish or something else, and it depends on the class you play. I dont play with a high HP Pool and i am doing fine - on my sorctank and on my DK Tank. I am more around 30-40k Health and this is also working in all Vettrials + HM, with and without the Supportsets.

Actually i play an old Ultiregbuild, and it works. Metatanking is only ONE way to tank, but there are more.

Sure but I prefer the way not to die and most of the time using buff sets to increase the grp dmg and that's always welcome...makes fights easier and faster
with ebon and alkosh im around 36k-40k without Warden buff and I run mostly just with 18-20k resources

Depending on your groups composition, Encase or roots in general can be quite pleasant for your DDs.
Most pve DDs use dual wield and dual wield abilities deal 15% more damage against rooted enemies. So trashmobs will constantly suffer 15% more damage while you have them rooted.

However, I am a sorcerer tank as well and don't really have a slot that I would gladly sacrifise for this.
    Auri-El is my lord,
    Trinimac is my shield,
    Magnus is my mind.

Do you use the altar to give some heals to group?

It's actually more for myself. With wall it's a nice little trickle heal since vigor is absolute garbage on a sorc tank that has no way to get major or minor mending. It allows me to sit at half HP after a big attack and just slowly keep my HP static until I can safely Dark Deal instead of having to use clanny.

Sorc tank really relies on it's magicka pool more than any other tank when it needs to get through tough mechanics. You have no way of keeping yourself alive if your mag pool bottoms out, so use it sparingly.

What do your bars look like then?
. no way to get major or minor mending

You can get major vitality, 30% healing taken, from restraining prison, for at least 2 seconds, up to 8 seconds.

What other tank use stamina to get through mechanics? All classes use magic to heal themselves.
