1.3% completion rate (PS4) of Summerset is Proof of ESO's weakness

No. It's just that Summerset isn't that great in terms of story.

Even for traditional single player RPGs where doing a main quest is the whole game, completion rate is surprisingly low in this age of overwhelmingly large lists of barely played games in your Steam account, often not even getting to 20%.

Now consider the fact that in ESO, questing through all of Summerset's main quest is only a minor side activity even for players who bought the chapter and play the game regularly. I wouldn't even have been surprised if those 1.3% would've been for owners of Summerset.

Now, with all the caveats mentioned here (including all players who ever made an account, trophies not updating, etc.), the value of that statistic is basically zero.

It is hard to say. I have 3 main characters and only one of them has finished a main storyline, the molag bal one. I got too much to do in game which is a good thing.

But that statistic for all the people who have been playing longer than me. That seems super low. 1.3%. so weird.

You are looking at the wrong number. Only 61.44 % (xbox) made it out of the starting tutorial. Nearly 40% of the players that started up the game never even took the time to finish the tutorial. That number then falls to 35.61% for the next quest. Amplifying the vast number of bots that exist in the game, and dummy accounts being created continuously.

Zenimax claims nearly 12 million accounts. If you assume xbox alone as roughly 1/4 of that number, one can say that over 1.5 million accounts on the xbox never made it out of the starting tutorial. Applying the assumption that ps4 and pc are the same. One can guess that around 4.5 million accounts are sitting in the soul shriven tutorial, waiting to get out of their cells.

Is this statistic per character or per account. I know in my game each character has separate achievements. I am on PC so not sure if PS4 does that too. And only 1 out of 6 characters has finished a main storyline, the molag bal one so far.

On ps4 and xbox, you get an achievement for completing something notable the first time you do it on your account.
