Please! We need a way to distinguish DoT from direct.

Ok, so the new Deadly Strike changes look great...except that abilities that one would reasonably assume are DoTs are not at all ie endless hail, caltrops, etc. However I know plenty of players who to this day think that their aoe abilities that tick damage are in fact DoTs not direct damage (which they definitely are, test it). We could really use a system on tool tips to show things like this. For example is it aoe or single target? is it dot or direct? is it considered melee or ranged? Tooltips still remain convoluted and it's a real shame. I see a lot of players wasting CP, armor slots, and enchants buffing the wrong things because they have no idea what an ability falls under.

iirc only the maelstrom bow bonus is direct damage, the rest of the base endless hail skill is dot
Why, when an AV actress leashes her pet slave and sits on his face she's called sexy or a babe, but when I do that to my pvp opponents, I'm called toxic?

Why, when someone swaps toons to a different faction to farm 25k AP for transmutes, it's seen as a bit of naughty fun, but when I delete my DC rank 50 Grand Overlord with 4000 hours clocked to create an EP Argonian, I'm called a faction swapper?

    Say no to censorship lads.

Incorrect. Go test it. It even scales with Master-at-Arms. Same goes for all ground based AOE that "tick".

no thats what im saying, im pretty sure it scales with both maa and thaum because of its double components. u cant base it off the tooltip because tooltips are historically known to be buggy as ***, screenshot a cmx combat log on a dummy with different cp allocated and then u got real evidence

I'm telling you I have tested this ad nauseum. Regardless this conversation only strengthens my point. There is a distinct lack of clarity here.

Test dmg numbers, not tooltips. Remove CP - add cp, etc. Pts so you don't waste your gold.

The problem is tooltips. They have been bugged forever. Last week I tested these abilities on pts.

Endless hail, caltrops and blade cloak scaled properly from thaumaturge cp while the tooltips only scale on master at arms.

Wall of elements, a similar aoe ground dot, scaled off of thaum AND master at arms for both dmg on dummy AND the tooltips.

It's crazy, people have been talking about this for years.

Before someone says the WORDING of the tooltip matters, it doesn't.

    X over Y seconds
    X every Z second for Y seconds
    X every Z second

Doesn't matter, they should all be dots and ZOS needs to fix the wording as well as apparently the scaling. Why the hell was wall of elements double dipping for me.

Here's the problem. We're approaching year 5 and the tooltips don't properly show how they scale? I mean final numbers after all the calculations in combat that's one thing, but why are they so unclear?
