Future class suggestion: Destructive Mage/Elementalist

antoniodavidmv
Hello everyone.

First of all, I am not native. Sorry for my typing mistakes.
If you were a former skyrim player (or actually you still play that amazing game) you may miss a classic class in TESO: The destructive mage.
The class is easy to create:
-Skill tree nº1: Fire. Fireball, fire atronach, rain of fire, fire explosion, defensive spell, utility spell.
-Skill tree nº2: Ice.
-Skill tree nº2: Lighting

If developers see this type of build is not rich and lack of variety, I have another idea. Mage class.
It would fuse Fire, Ice and lighting into "Elementalist" tree.
Another tree would be alteration, giving buffs and debuffs.
The last one could be Illusion, giving it some tricky spells.

Necromancy is not an option since they announced the necromancer class (it makes me think that a destructive mage is viable).

I believe magic in TESO is not that impressive like it used to be in Elder Scrolls saga (sorcerer is a bit dissapointing to me in this aspect), It needs a rework (who uses, for example, the fire trap of the mage guild skill tree)

Well, I have a lot of Ideas, but I don't want to split all of them in a single thread.

Please, comment if you like the destructive mage class idea or suggest another cool ideas to make this game great again.

Regards.

    more classes the better! :-)

    i like it!

You can already play a pure lightning mage with a sorc (I know from experience that this can be very strong and I am able to incorporate every single storm calling skill, which makes me feel like a true destructive mage), a pure fire mage with a Dragonknight, and a subpar frost mage with a Warden (frost damage in general is subpar). Creating a new class that has skill lines that are specifically related to the three element types that are stronger than what already exists would probably anger players who chose to play a specific class in order to fully utilize that element type. Necromancers are also getting an elementalist skill line that incorporates all 3 element types (necromancer themed)

Other than that it would be cool if a new class was created that focused on the other schools of magic that are underrepresented in this game.

    Favorite Foods and Potions
    https://media.giphy.com/media/3otPoTggaYFNd1FdAI/giphy.gif
    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Sounds really cool, but id prefer a heal/tank/dmg skill line setup like modern classes, and with the damage type taking the form of the weapon or staff you're using, like destruction staff abilities.
    EU: Magden, Magknight, Stamsorc(*2), Magsorc

I appreciate the effort, but this is largely redundant. Fire, ice and lightning are already covered between 3 classes. Classes in eso empahsize thematic aspects to TES lore. Said class themes in eso generally operate outside of elemental restrictions and cover more broad ideas. Again between, the varipus destruction staffs and the skill line to go with it, and the 3 classes that are able to represent ice fire and lightning innately, a class that is focused on those 3 elements makes little sense.

Class ideas for eso need to come in the form of baseline ideas for a thematic template. Its why usually basing an entire class around a single school of magic from TES is always a dead end.

Well, what I mean is TESO needs that kind of magic represented in Skyrim. Dragon Knights cast fire spells, but where are fire balls or Icy spear? Destruction stuff skills is not that inmersive. I mean, the need of pure mages is real. My favoured role in every game I played is Mage, except in TESO (I prefer NB rather than Sorcerer so far)

I agree with you at the end. Maybe the Mage need to combine more than 1 shool of magic, (alteration and illusion are untouched yet)
