The main thing I've done that's successful and not close to what the major build pubishers do is recognize a missing category -- overworld thieving builds, used for farming, general questing, moving through delves and public dungeons, moving around Cyrodiil, etc. Most people who do recognize this category would start the build the same way I do, namely:
    • Nightblade
    • Bosmer or Khajiit
    • Concealed Weapon, Retreating Maneuvers, and Shadow Cloak on the "sneak bar".
    • Night Terror 3-piece and/or Night Mother's Embrace 5-piece bonus on the "sneak bar".
    • Vampire passive and/or Night's Silence 5-piece bonus on the "sneak bar".
    • 7 Medium.
    • Maxed out Legerdemain passives, especially Improved Hiding.
    • Champion points into cheaper sneak as needed.

My personal preferences are Bosmer and -- sub-optimally -- non-vampire.

My sneak bar is 5/5/2 Night Terror/Night's Silence/Sellistrix, with 4/4/2/2 (adding Agility). If I had arena or trial weapons, that would of course be a little different.

My sneak bar is melee (else the 5-piece bonus of Night Terror would be a little silly), while the other bar is bow. I've reversed that in the past.

Vigor, Endless Hail, and Caltrops are key skills for the usual reasons.

I love the feel of Lethal Arrow in this build, but that's personal preference.

I'm generally a big fan of Reaper's Mark.

The other two non-ultimate skills are very much personal preference; I used Shrouded Daggers on the melee bar and Crushing Weapon with the bow.

I use Ballista and Soul Siphon as my ultimates.

Investing a bit in magicka recovery would make sense, but I don't bother.

The Steed Mundus would make sense, but I use a combat Mundus stone instead.

My one tamriel patch saptank was stupidly good for pve tanking.

Grothdrarr, kagernacs and bloodthorn touch. Crazy sustain, high max magica, high spell damage, decent crit, incredible self healing. Never needed a healer in any dungeon released up until that point and was pulling 25k dps which is ridiculous for a tank.

I have played around with my PVP ganking build a bit lots of different set ups.

Today I went back to playing Onslaught ganking Clever alchemist + Strenght of automation + bloodspawn. Even if you don't get the kill you have this burst of a huge amount of resistances.

I prefer spriggans when I am sniping, which lets be honest its way more common in cryodil you can't just walk into a zerg, but I wanted to give this a go. I still wish I had a Masters bow.

Templar tank. Ebon + Dragongaurd + shadowrend. Tristat + Study everything. Although I switched to infused necklace for more block cost reduction.

Love the builds so far. There are always great builds used for more than just combat. Iv got a great running build that easily breaks the speed cap so any race can reach it and basicly run as fast as a maxed out mount on rapids.

Cowards gear with fordes legacy. All medium armor with bow and swift jewelry traits. For best results you want to have all the gear well fitted and if you are a stam class you can actually forgo the swift traits and instead go for infused stam recovery if you are using bloodspawn and dominous monster sets you get an amazing stam pool and stam recovery. Great for those long distance scroll runs. If a player try’s to gank you by the time they can try a second attack you will be long out of range and due to them being in combat they won’t be able to mount. Allowing you to successfully run away and if you strategically use escape potions you can use that stamina regen to get a quick heal off and then they have to start all over trying to gank you

    This. *remains silent*

It is funny though.. at forums sometimes see people saying some sets i use on many characters as "trash" or not talked about at all, lowkey under the radar stuff.. but in game at Cyrodiil, often get whispers from enemies after they are dead like "your build is op, what are you using?" and no, it is not the usual Seventh/Fury/Ravager/Shackle/Sloads cheese or any other youtube build favourites that half of cyrodiil are using because everything else is "trash" apparently. ;)

Its nice that got so many sets from all the content and test things and find combinations that work really well with own playstyle. Problems with inventory and bank for having so many sets hoarded is real though. :#

Right now I'm looking for a good hybrid build for a Nightblade thief. That's all I want to do with him, sneak and steal. Some Magicka abilities are really good for that as are some Stamina abilities so I decided to go Hybrid. Currently I'm playing with his build, not 100% sure how I want to do it. It's hard to find guides for non end game builds though. Alcast has awesome guides but nothing for things like just making a top notch thief and not for trials and whatnot.

Did you see my post above on exactly that subject?

Really, the only magicka skills you need to cast are Cloak and, if you like to use it in combat, Reaper's Mark. Concealed Weapon is just there for the passive benefit. So find a stamblade skillset you like that does NOT depend on Surprise Attack (because it's the other morph from Concealed Weapon), slim it down to 7 non-ultimate skills (because you'll run Cloak, Retreating Maneuvers, and Concealed Weapon), and proceed from there?

Notwithstanding the post below, I don't know the math on stealth.

Would it be overkill to use Night Terror, Night Mother's Embrace AND Darloc Brae, 7 pieces of medium, on a Khajit vampire?

Also, belatedly in line with the original idea of this thread, I've been posting for a while in other threads about the idea of using a DK's poison sustain passive in a bow-bow build. That said, my hope was that somebody would pick up the idea for a full published build, and Alcast indeed did that in a new-for-Elsweyr idea.

Theory Crafting hurts my head. I just look at the set bonuses and decide if they'd compliment the characters damage type and abilities.

Swamp Raider and Vicious Ophidian was okay on a StamKnight. It was the first time I used Vicious and I couldn't believe the sustain it gave you. It didn't even matter that I had lowish Max Stam it never ran out so long as I had mobs to fight.

Right now I'm trying to get a Leviathan set to pair with Hulking Draugr so I can have a high max stam Crit Kitty on a StamBlade.
