What? NONONONONO! Think about it!
If this happens, then everyone becomes the same class, because that's the strongest. We would lose all diversity, because everyone plays the same. All healer would become Templar, all Tank would become DK, and so on. The hardcore min/maxers are the great majority of the players as we know, and they would all turn into the class, that fits their role best.
We don't need any change EVER. Just leave everything be, because the game is perfect! Also they could be more motivated to make the classes balanced, because of the dangers of everyone leaving a weak class/becoming a strong one, and as we know customer satisfaction, griding avoidance, and balance is bad!

FFXIV is one of the most successful MMOs and they allow you to change class whenever you want. I really don't get the argument against having this feature in games.

Just make a new toon, you can get to level 50 in a few hours.

Bad joke aside i know what people will say regarding this, i understand the point behind it , so players will play a new class a content all over again and thus put more time into it.
and from biz point of view i understand it, more people longer playing looks better in numbers but there is number of people such as my self who have one main that they got the right name for it and spend hr upon hrs playing it ( me from 2016) and i don't want to loose that.
For me its kind of heartbreaking , do i say goodbye to my main and start playing a necro and not felling connected to it, or play my main and think about necro a class that i always wanted.
Please ZoS give us class change token make it 5k crowns and once in 6 months you can buy it or something like that. its a win win situation.
Please!

Making it to 50 isn’t the grind..the shard hunting/book collecting/running all dungeons and reaching the same pvp rank for similar skill points is the grind
May not be a big deal to you but some of us don’t feel like wasting our free time grinding the same repetitive stuff

That's a somewhat disingenuous comparison. You make it sound like FFXIV is a single class MMO like ESO, but one in which you can change class. It isn't, it is a multi-class MMO that was designed from the outset to allow you to play all the classes on a single character. ESO was never designed that way and in my view the existing class structure should be maintained as it is integral to the whole game.
Not only would such a change result in a "FOTM" class that all competitive/group players would be under enormous pressure to follow, but ZOS would have a massive incentive constantly to change the balancing so that a different "FOTM" class would emerge each update in order for them to sell more class change tokens in the Crown Store.
