I consider it somewhat deceptive because the full facts, with which we could have made an informed decision, were not disclosed. It may not be an outright deception, but it definitely feels manipulative.

You mean if you knew you weren't going to be the only ones able to own it, you wouldn't have gifted? Can you say that without feeling a little bad or selfish? Because I can't even type that without feeling cringy.

I highly doubt most of the gifting that went on during December was simply out of some sort of good will Christmas spirit. Lets see some charts depicting the amount of gifting from before they announced the gryphon pet to after, then you can start wagging your shame finger from your high horse.

But I highly doubt you would be.

If Zos prices it at 1000 Crowns, then I feel your pain and can sympathize. If it costs more for everyone else, then at least you got it a way that was cheaper and helped other people.

Also it is nowhere written that those rare Radiant Apex mounts will forever be obtained from crates. So what If you had the luck to get one and on the same day ZOS starts selling them for 600 gems? Its basically the same.

Imo that would be a good move from zos, folks have been asking for ages to be able to buy the radiants with gems.

Got the night frost horse from a free crate but others that really want them won't have to spend 100s of € and hope for the chance of one.

I do however agree it was shady to mislead the peeps who gifted for the gryphon, I also assumed it would be a recurring end-of-year thing.

The exclusives were not impressive, just another reskin lion and something else not worth remembering. Not really a big deal but, reskin mounts only get so entertaining after a while. And i understand ZOS’ most likely reasoning behind it being that new mounts take time and money to make. Just pleaee guve us something new please. Hey what happened to the stag! If you guys reskinned that maybe 1 time that wouldnt be bad, i think there have only been 2 skins of the stag, that being the original and the black.

I’m happy because the last time I did something to get a “free pet”- aka the dog and crates from OCTOBER- I never got them. So at least if I don’t get the gryphon from gifting, I can get it by buying and not feel disappointed by doing something, and not getting the freebie despite doing the requirements.

I also agree on the point that the posting for the Gryphon pet was/is misleading.

Yes, nowhere it is stated that the pet is exclusive to the promotion but it implies it.

That the pet is on sale directly in the next month where the players who participated are supposed to get it feels like that we got fooled by ZOS.

So first the Gryphon pet and know the indrik mount. This is exactly what im getting frustrated about. All the people that work so hard or put effort towards these events hoping to have something special to show off for paricipating. Then they just add it to the crown store later.

I'm glad I was able to make others happy and receive something cute but this news is still a bit disappointing. I was already thinking about gifting but not the same amount I spent for this reward probably. Or maybe not with crowns at all, there are a lot of things people would appreciate more in this game. And as a crown store item, I wouldn't have bought this gryphon reskin, something I already have similar for 1000+ crowns also. I participated simply because I thought it was a good opportunity to give gifts and get something special, a good combination. Now it's kinda ruined, the item is not special anymore. And it bothers me, not the amount I spent but how you profited using this ploy and how I contributed. Next year I'd love to see the item in crown crates, thanks ZOS!

Exclusivity reigns supreme. We buy crates in hopes of getting something most don't have. We all assumed this would be an exclusive reward and it's not. Cheapens the event and the pet itself. Exercise in mistrust and doesn't bode well for future promotions.

I don't give a flying flip about exclusivity but I will be really ticked if it sells for less than 1000 crowns.

I don't get why people are upset about the event tickets being sold. I would imagine that if someone were to try to get all 4 Indrik mounts through the CS, it would cost them a fortune. Let's say the tickets cost only 100 crowns each. So, you'd need to purchase 40 event tickets just to get the Nascent Indrik mount - 4,000 crowns. Then to evolve it, you'd need to purchase 40 tickets, so another 4,000 crowns. If you wanted all 4 plus another Nascent, that's 8,000 crowns for each evolution (32,000 crowns) and another 4,000 crowns for a 5th Nascent Indrik. That's 36,000 crowns. Even if you only want one evolution, that's 8,000 crowns - way more than any other mount (crates aside). And, that's assuming the tickets will be that cheap.

Was it really that much "work" to earn the tickets during these recent events? Sure, it sometimes became a chore, but I got my Nascent Indrik for free. If someone wants to buy tickets, I would assume at least 4000 crowns to get it.

The tickets are a "catch-up" mechanic for those who didn't have the game the entirety of the fall events. It's also a helpful item for players who have to miss several events due to real life. They can just buy a few event tickets to make up the difference. And, if someone wanted to spend real money to buy all 4 variations, then let them. They'll have spent a ridiculous and unnecessary amount of money, when they could have earned all of them in-game (or at least enough tickets for most of them).

As for the gryphon pet, it will cost at least 1,000 crowns - that's what the previous gryphon pet cost that was in the store (and NOT 2500 crowns as someone previously posted). I would guess 1200-1500 crowns.

I will agree that the article is misleading, and selling the pet in the CS just a couple weeks later is also poor form. Have it for sale in the store the next year, while offering a new pet as a reward for gifting. By putting it immediately in the store, they've guaranteed that next year's gifting event (if they do one) will only involve players that were going to give gifts anyway, or who want to give gifts with the pet as a nice reward. No one will gift to other players solely to get the pet if they know they can just buy it outright a few weeks later. My guess is that perhaps the gifting event didn't generate as much gifting as they had hoped.

They've mislead us before. The first chapter, Morrowind, is a fine example.

Announces an event that rewards players for using the crown store. Puts the reward in crown store afterwards. Did you think that zos has any intention of creating community based events for the sake of the community? They are selling the indryk event tickets on the crown store. Even the summerset event was aimed to promote the expansion and set the ground for the summerset themed furnishing packs. If they cared about the community they would have fixed the countless issues this game suffers from years ago.

If I decide I want to buy it, I now can, without having had to give presents to friends, who didn't really seem to want/need anything, at the time.

Yes, the way it was done was a bit misleading, but I prefer to think everyone can get things, if they want them.

Then, when someone asks about something, I can make them feel happy that they might be able to get it eventually; not sad that they never will.

There is already far too much of a gulf between the rich and the poor.

To some people, their financial situation means they will never be able to buy much (if anything) in games.

Adding artificial "exclusivity", on top of that, is just adding insult to injury.

Unless you just wanted to give people gifts - in which case, you have achieved your goal and got a free gift (that other people will have to pay for).

If you exchanged gifts, you got your gifts and they got theirs and both of you got a gryphon.

All for around 1000 Crowns each.

So, you didn't buy a gryphon for 1000 crowns - you bought and received gifts totalling that and both got free gryphons.

Only if you didn't want any of those gifts, did you (effectively) buy a gryphon.

In which case, I hope you really wanted it...?

Seriously, my advice is to get over this exclusivity obsession, anyway; it's not healthy.

Either you like something enough to buy it, however many people may end up having it, or you don't.

Trust your own judgement and style - don't rely on "exclusivity" to make people admire you.

Most won't.

If you have been tricked into overpaying for something, that is quite another matter, of course; but, I expect it will cost roughly the same, either way, plus you and/or your friends got your gifts.

Whether you wanted them (or the gryphon, really?), or not.
