Considering Zos did not see fit to add servers outside of the two regeons we currently have I would not expect them to add them now with the significantly smaller playerbase we have now than 4 years ago.
It comes down to cost vs benefit. I doubt the population of the game and expected additional players would support a third server. Of course Zos is the one with the numbers, not me.1 -

✭✭I sincerely doubt it. They haven't shown an interest in investing in improvements like that in a very long time. A lot of people demand server upgrades already, but they'd really have to just rewrite a lot of the code to fix the issues that raise those complaints. Cyrodiil probably isn't as simple a problem as "better servers." Nonetheless, more servers seems very unlikely.
This game has mostly reached the point of being finished from a technical standpoint. They're more interested in maximizing profits with the creative types than actually improving the experience. To prove this, you don't need to look any further than the fact that they keep designing zones and dungeons that exceed the capabilities of the engine. See the performance disaster that was Dragonbones at launch...
As for another region, that would further segment the population. I don't know what kind of numbers we could expect to shift, but I imagine it wouldn't be healthy for the game. ✭✭As a Southeast Asian player who endures 250-320 ping playing on PCNA, I honestly would still stick with the NA server.
The ostensible lack of English speakers, lowered population and smaller economy wouldn't outweigh the slightly improved ping, imo.

By general consent the overall population is markedly up, not down, on 4 years ago - unless you're specifically talking about the Oceanic population only, I've no idea how that has trended.
The problem with adding servers to cover a local population is that it isn't just "a third server" as you describe it, it's a "third set of servers". A local population such as the Oceanic players may be numerous in total, but when you split them between the different platforms do they represent a viable total across three servers? That should be the main concern for both ZOS and the players themselves.0 -

This would affect the guilds and the economy and the world will be very empty. I wouldn't join if they even made one and so would the other asian players that I know1

I'm not sure about Akamai's contribution to this. I now play on the PC NA (which reportedly has Akamai) and PC EU (which reportedly does not) servers from the UK and to my surprise I find there is zero difference in the performance on them.0 -

No, you won't. Even playing in NA on the NA server, we have people crashing out of trials all the time.
I rarely run trials but even I have seen wipes from people crashing. We regroup, re-invite and move on. But the crashes will always be there0 -

Yes, they can it is extremely unlikely Zos would open a mega server for only one platform.
Regardless, as I pointed out before the business metrix are very likely long gone for a third mega server. The game population is a fraction what it was in the first year (no, the game is not dying) and there is likely insignificant justification for expanding.
It has to make business sense and I can hardly see that being the case.

If that is like close to 200, having an Asia server won't do us much good cause they may just create an Asia only server in NA like the one for EU, which ends up that the package still need to travel half way around the earth and the lag is not gonna get much better. Maybe improve a bit but hardly like playing next to a local server.0 -

This was not the case. At launch the both the NA and EU servers were located near the Zos offices in Maryland for ease of access since a lot was going on. No special effort was made to help players on EU during this time. This lasted about a month or two as intended.
After a short period of time both servers were relocated. NA was moved to middle USA and EU was moved to Europe.
Crossing the Atlantic I have a ping between 200 and 250. Doubtful Zos would find a need to do anything special for that time as it would offer little benefit.Edited by idk on December 28, 2018 7:45AM0 -

you only notice Akami nonsense when you are from OC. From UK you wouldnt notice if your routed through Akami Netherlands, but from OC its 999+ ping spikes frequently.Insulting people on the internet is cowardly.0 -
