Doesnt work. Cyrodiil is not controlled by a faction, but by a tri-colored plotting gang of hatepreachers, notorious liars and facist door bouncers. You can only leave PvP or even the game. Because this is all tolerated or even supported by the company running the servers.

Good luck trying to rationalize this. Verbally craping about everyones mom, including my mom, was the last straw.

A great post that I enjoyed reading.

The fact of the matter is that what you describe is reality. You cannot change something that is deeply embedded into people's behaviour overnight or short term. Like you said, lead by example, show others how it's done and one day you might have a more cohesive player-base

I have been playing in Cyridiil since launch and outside of the lag and bugs have enjoyed the experience. I have supported AD all the way, but the toxicity levels in chat have become so bad when things go bad for us that its hard to ignore. Everyday these so-called great players start their daily everyone’s an idiot rants when thing go against us.

While AD was well outnumbered defending Alessia this morning one of these great players was telling everyone to stop being an idiot and attack roe. After our failed defence this great player started telling all AD that we were idiots. I asked why that was and was told that it’s the same pattern everyday and that players like me never learn (now I’m pretty sure that player doesn’t know me but who am I to argue with their self-perceived greatness)

Now I can handle one or even a few of these idiot callers in chat, but I swear they are breading like rabbits. For years I have seen them grow like mould in a damp bathroom. I have tried putting them on my ignore list but more just pop up and they all shout the same insults.

Let me make my opinion clear on these egotistical chuckleheads, calling you fellow teammates idiots, cowards or pathetic when things turn against us does not make you exempt from the blame. When AD fail you fail with them, it’s called being a team.

Now unlike you idiot callers I’m going to provide you with an answer to the your I’m surrounded by idiot’s mentality that you have. Here it is ….

These kind of people are in every PVP game and ranting here won't change that.

    Just ignore zone chat.

All three factions have fallen significantly from where they were years ago. There is little to no coordination other than between a few guild groups (when those groups are playing), and the majority of small groups of experienced players don't care about the map - nor do they want to fight 50+ opponents if they try to care about the map. That leaves the vocal minority who tries to direct and give advice - many of whom have zero grasp of strategy or understanding of the other factions (who is online, what decisions they will make, and what motivates them). That vocal minority doesn't care what you tell them, and many seem to be entertained by calling out others on their own factions. AD is the worst for this, but I've seen it on DC and to a limited extent on EP as well.

The main challenges with leading PuGs are:
    1. If you don't have a regular group of players who know each other and coordinate builds, you're going to have a bad composition.
    2. If you have a bad composition, you're only as effective as a group a fraction of the size.
    3. If you don't have everyone in voice comms and willing/able to follow directions, you're going to spend more energy herding squirrels than having fun.
    4. If you don't have everyone in proper PvP gear, you're going to get blown up by vicious death procs.
    5. If you don't have everyone in proper PvP builds, you're not going to do enough damage to be effective as a group.
    6. The people who are in solo, gank, PvE, or even some small group builds are not going to contribute very much to a large group's success (think bow / light attack spamming in a group of 15 trying to fight a zerg).

The main challenges with leading guild groups are:
    1. There aren't many solid guilds around anymore.
    2. More competent guild players have left the game than are still around.
    3. Players don't want to or can't commit to raid times.
    4. You have to constantly work to keep a solid group composition with rotating and variable availability by members.
    5. Players don't want to put the time into working together to practice.
    6. Players get frustrated when as a new group they can't take on an established min/max group.
    7. Players don't want to give up their prima donna attitudes ("all the killing blows are MINE") for the benefit of the group.
    8. Players don't want to play within the confines of their roles and responsibilities.
    9. There are always the "good people but bad players" who who bring down the group, but you don't want to get rid of them.
    10. Until you reach a perfect balance of min/maxed composition and have players with a good attitude, leading is more work than it is fun.

I've thought about starting something up again, but don't have the time or inclination to put the work in. I'm happy raiding Tuesdays and Thursdays, then other evenings that I play chillax in a small group of friends.

Have to agree with you Crown. Wabbajack only raids on a Tues/Thurs now with a friendly raids up at other times for non-guild friends. It's really hard to maintain anything more than that anymore.

We still have some great players but we have lost a lot more damn good players over the years. It's really sad because this is a great game but it is getting old and the lag doesn't help.

This is NOT the Dominion. It is a group of player playing all colors.

One color is taking all keeps and scolls at night in the morning. This might happen on purpose or is coincidental.

Once "everyone else" is logging in they tell the to other faction how bad this faction is. They are all angry and full of hate against first color and is getting back all. Meanwhile someone else is leading the first color into loosing. They really feed them to the others who are really angry. And once they loose they get insulted. This NOT from mental disturbed people. This is very well done by guys on a machiavellian mission.

Again, it is not AD. Its a scheme that works on any server/campaign with any color.

Aurora Nightrose here... to be honest, AD chat while its a very mixed thing, sorta like a box of choclates, its actually fairly calm and helpfull... do it have its spasms of crazy and toxic, sure does, but that isnt unheard of on the internets... and some people need to fume when their pixels gets beat up... but yea all in all i think AD chat, is fairly oki

Then again, im not allways around and i certainly dont play 24/7, so perhaps people are missbehaving when im not around... was some good fight this sunday, thanks ep and dc !

I'm all the way with you @Waylander07. I play in PC - EU, Sotha, and honestly, I don't bother to deal with chat people anymore. I play by myself, and when available with someone from my social guild. I tried a year ago joining a PvP guild (& then a spin-off), but the toxicity has permeated into them as well. Making progress in the campaign is not worth the amount of *** that goes on...

You will find these people on all factions and all servers. I think after a certain point people get bored or they take all the keeps and there is nothing left to do but start ***!

Guilds go through this to. People spend so much time together farming or PVPing that eventually they run of *** to talk about and start overdoing it when they give each other a little grief.

This can lead to splits in the guild. As well as guilds changing factions. Which isn't a bad thing as it can shift the power to another faction and balance the alliances out a little if one side was dominating.

And then there are the people whos only objective is to start *** in chat, along with the people who feel they are masters in siege warfare and so what they say must be followed or else they will throw a fit.

Its a game, but to some its a little more important I guess. I'm more a solo act these days so I use chat to know where the groups are going so that I can help. Aside from that I simply ignore or find amusement in the banter that occurs in chat!

If you're talking about who I think you are (player that recently returned to the game that constantly derides AD in zone chat), most of us have him on ignore. He never has anything useful to say at all so we don't care about what he has to say.

We're in a game. Some people obviously would not cite them here, they just hate being 'contradicted'. Sense intolerant to any type of criticism, constutative or not.

It's not a matter of taking a zone chat seriously or not. We are in a game and everything that is said in a game is restricted to that.

Each one can and should have the right to ignore A, B or C, what you can not do is get angry because someone has decided to criticize a particular strategy 'in game'. I know some take it to the 'personal' side, they should not. But, as I said earlier, in a game we find everything, all kinds of people, including the intolerant, the narscists, the egotists, and so on - who hate to be 'contradicted', hate to have their ideas questioned.

I am one of those who question very certain strategies and I will continue to question, regardless of who. Eventual offenses, something that breaks with TOS, everyone has the right to report, just as I have to do so.

Probably the accusers do exactly the same thing, they send millions of hate tells to others. The difference, is that some go to the forum pass shame trying to 'frame' someone'. But, they are cynical and sneaky. So they do not report any 'hate wisp', because they do exactly the same at all times and with absolutely everyone in the game, and they can receive any sanctions from ZOSm for breaking with TOS. Exactly why they do not report any 'hate wisp'.

There are no 'saints' or demons, bad guys and good guys, this is a fictional movie thing.

I've lost my composure in zone chat a few times. Though, it's usually hardcore gamers I'm upset about because I hold them to a higher standard than casual players who may not take the game as seriously. I usually regret it as no good comes from the outburst, right or wrong.

PVP in any game will be heated at times. I think MMOs are more heated because of the long hours some of us play. By the end of some long sessions my brain is mush. So I think we should be forgiving of each other to some degree.

However, there are chronically toxic players who are an ongoing detriment to their teams. They severely impact the enjoyment of other players and can render zone chat completely useless with their antics.

If ZOS won't discipline these players, they should implement a better social ban system to regulate these players while allowing them to continue playing.

As a casual coming to PVP from PVE, how exactly does one learn how to play effectively? Join a pug, follow orders (go here, go there) and get abused, but no one explains anything. Also got sniped off my horse yesterday by a NB and got killed before I could stand up only to be hate whispered about how terrible a player I was.

Does seem awfully toxic in PVP, not sure I want to get good.

I remember my first time in PvP I had no clue what I was doing. I eventually became friends with some of the better players on the platform at the time and they showed me the ropes. I would suggest avoid joining zone chat warrior groups. Just kind of surf practice keeping buffs up and work on finding LOS and keeping your movements fluid.

If you see players doing welll don’t be afraid to ask them for advice. Most good players will share if you explain that you’re new to pvp and want to learn. If they come off as condescending a holes don’t take it personally they’re probably the same way to elite players.

    1. Use siege at keep fights.

    3. Fight enemy players and expect to die a lot at first. BG's and IC are great places to hone your fighting skills and rotations.

    4. Read up on your build for PVP as certain skills will preform better and certain set work better in PVP. You don't have to copy a meta or someone else's build as you may find you like different combos of skills and armor.

    5. Adjust you CP to PVP set up.

    6. There is safety in the Zerg and a nice place to more easily survive at first! But zerging also doesn't help you learn to stand on your own to feet very well.

    7. Ignore the hate whispers from stealthy NB's! Soon you will be pulling those little *** out of stealth and having your way with them as they try desperately try to escape! ( As Bow gank NB I know that my kills are entirely based on catching a target off guard. Not really worth boasting about or sending a message to the person I killed. But there are a lot of A holes in this game.)

    8. Ignore the mighty keyboard warriors and that argue there manhood in text and zone chat!
