About Naryu...

So I've only recently gotten to the end of the Dark Brotherhood dlc, mostly because of all my alts... Haven't been to Morrowind yet but now I'm more reluctant to do so on some of my toons. Why? Because of Naryu. I was playing on my female "assassin" today, finishing up the last remaining Sweetroll killer quest when the dialogue forced a kiss between my character and her. The dialogue had some lines before then I couldn't skip suggesting they had a flirty "thing" before then. If I want my character to be gay, then it's fine, but this particular character is not. As someone who comes up with a background for everybody (and for some of them relationships, always with one of my own characters) I felt I lost all control over my characters story.

In the past when you work with her (Pact quests) ALL "persuade" flirt lines were optional.

This kind of thing NEVER happens with a male NPC either. Not once. I suppose the writers assume all/most players are men, and those men who play female characters love the whole "girl on girl" action between the characters, idk...

The dialogue options in this game have never been perfect, but this thing with forced flirting with Naryu was too much for me. I want the option to choose who my characters would be attracted to.

I don't remember this bit (oddly) but perhaps it was saying something about Naryu and not your character.

I think there were a few optional flirts but nothing came out of it, it's like he forgot you ever said it to him.

I took what Naryu said as sarcastic, and the reward was the kiss, not an actual kiss...am I too innocent or something?

Maybe it's just generic script, and the game can't tell which gender you're playing as.

Or....my girl Naryu has some explaining to do.

Same here I did that quest with my criminal toon because I wanted the related achievement furnishing, but I don't recall that interaction.

OP, you can actually interpret the dialogue in the screenshot in different ways, so if a kiss with Naryu is not what you want for your character, you can imagine that after she said that part, your Vestige declined or something. I mean, the dialogue just shows intent, and not an action that actually transpired.

this. THIS is what you are upset about? its just text. if you are willing to roleplay your character's sexuality, role play DUcking from that good kiss, or telling her no thank you afterward, or any number of things. I mean.. there is no cutscene, no anything, its . just. text.

Naryu likes all races and genders. In the elder scrolls universe that is normal.

I agree with the OP. The voice-acting in that scene is extremely suggestive. If it was Darien instead, I would want the optional response of "Break Darien's pretty face". Some of us actually enjoy the quests and pay attention to the nuances. It's not just about killing monsters.

See it from her perspective: The quests force her to kiss _anyone_ doing that quest. just imagine you being frozen in her place while all the uglys from belkarth ghost train show up.... (not sure if belkarth is still the place where they meet, but i guess u know the ppl. picked racials over looks, stupid name, trying to hide meta-vampirism under a more or less equally fugly skin)

otoh, i do not relly like her. she always treats me like some dck-for-brains brute who'd do anything she wants if she just says it "flirty" enough.

yes, and I'm that someone. Naryu is flirty. its how she is. that is not a reflection on YOUR character, its reflection of Naryu. it says NOTHING about your character. and there is nothing in dialogue that suggests that your character accepts that kiss, let alone welcomes it. and I mean.. consider for a moment that this is her saying this just to fluster your character and not actualy meaning to follow through on it.

maybe its becasue I'd experienced actual ninjamancing in video games before (hello there older bioware games) but this is just... nothing like it.

Naryu is a very flirty character. Toward everyone. Her dialogue elsewhere even implies she actively seeks about Brothels between Contracts to relieve the tension. That screen sounds like you walked into that response. Not that it was randomly forced upon you.

Though Naryu definitely is the type of girl who takes what she wants.

Thing is, though, that there's no male character in the game that will flirt this actively with the player's character regardless of their gender nor kiss you against your will.

There was a kiss part that I remember at the end of Sweetroll killer quest. And I do remember that Naryu was happy AND drunk. Otherwise you would've spoken with Razum-dar. So, she's drunk and has a soft spot for you. And she's naturally a flirty person. But all the flirts are optional because of her line of work and so on. That's how I see it.

Best part of whole romance thing and flirting with Darien is the fact (if I'm remembering this correctly... Glenumbra is a long way back) that he will treat you as a friend and there will be no more flirty options once you hit "Not interested" option the first time it happens.

I don't recall this scene but I don't play female characters. Additionally, I do agree that Naryu's arc comes off a bit forced. In all honesty if I could play the way I wanted Naryu would be dead. A lot of npc's would be dead. If this was like Morrowind I would have run a bloody swath through a lot of cultists on my Templar. Half (or more) of the dungeon quests might not have even happened because I would have killed the cultists before the quest started. Sadly, You can't play the role of Inquisitor in this game. You have to play the role of daedra-suckass.

Don't get me wrong, if it upsets you.... please, voice your opinion. I am not saying in the least that someone should be muted if something offends them. On the flip side, I just never thought I would read a "Nerf Naryu" thread. Meh, I guess I shouldn't be surprised at anything at this point.

There's a few other flirty NPCs I've come across too.

Also, it's just text that is suggesting she would like to kiss you. It's not like Dragon Age or something where it cutscenes to you and the NPC shagging in a garden.
