Gold jewelery

I'm curious about one thing - upgrading jewlery to gold or buying gold ones is ridiculously expensive. My question is why? The change from purple to yellow is so small that is definitely not worth it but still it cost huge amounts of gold.

I understand that gold plating is probably very rare but still it gives you none progress what so ever???

    Worth is subjective.

At end game, progress comes from several small, incremental bonuses, and not a few, large ones.

Gold jewellery, gold weapons, gold armour, max passives, BIS traits ... it all adds up.

I'm not talking about gear but jewelery. On Arcane rings it gives some silly amount of Magicka that you wouldnt even notice in combat:)

If your intentions are to transmute jewelry I’ve heard it’s a pretty big loss using bloodthirsty or infused on less than legendary quality.

Shine. Shine. Don’t you want your ultimate warrior decked out in all legendary. Everyone since ever has noted the minimal gains in full legendary gear. It doesn’t stop us from trying.

I have 2 sets of gold jewelry i use and one i got from last years........... pvp event... that i dont remember the name of. Where the golden vendor had the pvp sets up. Bought them for AP which I otherwise don't use so basically it cost me nothing.

my other set was cheap off a guild store even earlier than that. And I got it cause it was the set I wanted and.... I wanted to have it in gold. That's pretty much the only reason for me. Don't know if i will ever upgrade something to gold unless it's for the achievement. (for the dye)

    Then don't do it?

Anyway, the answer to the question is incremental gains add up. If it isn't worth it to you, fine.

Well it depends, some traits get boosted a lot for being gold, like infused, where purple is 51% while gold is 60%. Pretty big difference.

It's a very slight upgrade. For sure.

Is it worth it? Not really. But if you have the gold or the materials laying around with nothing else to use it on, why not?

For end game progress comes from your skills and team work if we talk about Trials, DLC dungeon and group PvP. Well orginized skilled players will do their job better than golden-fashion newbies.

Yes, all me gear is gold atm, got everything from trials with our former guild. But I can say, and it was already mentioned before, the real difference is on weapons. Yes, with golden armor you will get better bonus from Mundus and enchantments, but not that much.

P.S. If you wonder why jewelry gold upgrades are so expensive, ask ZOS why they didn't allow to deconstruct already existing jewelry that people had. In this case the price will be much and much lower.

I like the restrictions on gold jewelry. It takes a level of co-ordination and skill to get some gold jewelry from Veteran Trials. It's something you can be proud of.

To make things better for other players you can upgrade by grinding. All it takes time to build up the chromium to upgrading.

    This is incorrect.

Weapons should always be gold as their is the largest return and that return is large.

For everything else there is some value, some worth, so to say it is not worth making anything else gold is incorrect.

However, for most the small benefit is not worth the cost and they will likely not see any real difference in their damage done. Most players would receive the biggest improvement to their DPS by improving their own skill. Armor set bonus stats is not the source of ones damage, it can only enhance what one is capable of doing.

To OP, do not stress about gold jewelry.

Pretty much this. Infused is a nice jump from purple to gold, Harmony as well. Otherwise though, the big bang for the buck is gold weapons.

Funny, it took me 3 months to get 4 gold platings to upgrade my first piece of jewelry about a week ago and I haven't done it. Why? Not sure yet if I'm keeping my current 5 piece set which is just necropotence and once it's done it's done. Working on a new set of spell strategist but even then it took so dang long to get four platings I probably won't gold them either, the extra boost is so small it's laughable. I've been considering selling them and using the gold to buy my last two strategist rings.

    You raise a fair points....

It's called a gold sink. More player spendy = more time invested in the game = higher chance that the player spends 'real' money on the game.

That's all it is. Nothing more.

The reason why it costs so much to upgrade jewerly (and it isn't just gold that is stupid expensive) compared to other items that provide even more benefit (such as weapons) is simply because ZOS designed it this way.

    Why?

Just to add another time sink / grind to the game - no other reason.

I sell my grains and platings...they go for stupid prices on PS4 NA.
Gold jewelry isn't anywhere near the cost it takes to upgrade to justify the stats...and the only reason it was designed the way it is in its current state is because of trial goers complaining how it would devalue thier achievements or something.
No other reason to justify such a tedious grind or crazy cost for such a small increment in stats.
I'm perfectly fine with purple jewelry and getting my pieces from the golden, if the RNG is in my favor.

If my maths are correct then it's no "loss" as such, it's pretty lineball, and it's not a HUGE jump when golding. Nothing that is going to make you leap out of your chair and go "wow!" anyway.

Um. But you don't get to SEE the shine. So - blah. Why they can't make it so you can see necklace and rings.... gah.

I got all my gold jewelry from PvP rewards, the golden vendor, and some from traders. There’s 3 pieces I’ll gold but not until I get the mats from Writs. No big deal. Not BUYING the mats that’s just nuts. Lol.

For group buff sets its more useful as it buffs the entire group.
i did the same as I had gold rings from the golden.

Take a difference of, what was it on purple, 124 Spell Damage? To 129 Spell Damage on legendary jewelry. Multiply that with a critical hit when your Crit Chance triggers. Big difference in damage. Just an example.

Really? How much difference actually? Your example wasn't really an example since you didn't show how big the difference really is? Doesn't seem like it's notable at all to me.
