The cynics will note lag and disconnects have occurred for years. Multiple times ZOS has claimed to be working on fixes, yet lag and disconnects have still occured. I will be elated if the current “fix” solves the problem. The cynics will also note that ZOS did not find this “fix”.

Its such an obscure potential solution, no QA/QC team would have found this unless they stumbled upon it. Often times QA/QC teams are completely different people than the developers and unfortunately, due to the nature of the beast in most industries they're the first to be "trimmed"

If ZOS is dealing with lag issues, I would have expected them to do CPU profiling and network tracing to determine if there was any unusual amount of activity there?

Makes me wonder if in their attempts at improving performance they might have spent too much time looking at optimizing spell/skills stuff, and forgot to look at the basic stuff: network and CPU usage profiling.

Notice that it's not the first time something similar was found. A few years ago (can't remember for sure if it was ESO or another MMO I played in the past), I remember a lag cause was traced back to the quest journal. If it wasn't ESO, then that's another area I would suggest analyzing (to ensure the game isn't spending an insane amount of CPU/bandwidth dealing with potential quest updates).

Hopefully this will give ZOS new ideas of areas in need of reviewing to address the performance/stability issues that have been plaguing players since launch.

It was a random dude in a random group in Cyro that told us that trick and I don't even remember his name. If I ever see him again, I'll make sure to tell him what good he did.

I am so glad I dug the OP out from being buried by 4 pages to place the first comment, most of which complaining about what this can help fix.

I would suggest a look at all the database functions such as Friends List. It would also be good to change the Trader item search to be similar how awesome guild store uses, but a native function so a true database search can be done not just of a page. How much does wasted resources is caused on the servers sending out pages of item listings that people don't want to see.

Really be great if ZOS gave the OP a cache of Crowns and/or Gems, enough to buy the most expensive offering. Cause he saved you a lot of headaches in passing on a tip that others had saved and did not post here.

I actually was a little demoralized when I saw this post got no traction at all. It's such an easy fix for such a big performance increase, that I guess it smelled like bs a little too much, but stil, 0 replies after a full day got me a little sad.

So, thank you very much for your testing and confirmation! You definitely deserve as much credit as me!

which guild roster lol, i have 5 and own one of them. Is this an add on that lets you search? if so its probably the add ons that are giving you lag.

I just tested on PC and have my own anecdotal evidence of running in a range of 42-50% CPU I went to 37-42%. From 5.9 GB mem to 5.8. Just standing around in a bank. Switchbed back and I did see spikes back up but its not constant. So nothing super significant in a standard environment.

Any guild roster, using the native interface to search. That filter applied across all your guild rosters. (The same way as if you were looking for any individual to see if they were on your roster already.) While you’re right that an addon that searches the guild roster can add lag, you don’t need an addon to do this. It’s a native problem and will be getting a first-party solution.

You can also be assured that it is not an addon issue because Gina has already acknowledged that there is an issue to be addressed and said a fix is in the works. ZOS does not fix lag or any other issue caused by addons.

Still works as intended for me. I been using the tip and easytravel. ET does a search on it's own and closes when it makes a match.

Thank you again for your response to this issue. I was wondering can we have a system message at login with the temporary fix until the permanent solution is done? Or at least several days. Those that come to the forums is a small sample so this would get word out more.

Then you get a jump on seeing how much the server load goes down. Imagine the player love to soothe the black-eye they been giving you over the lag issue.

1. You acknowledge the issue
2. Let them know relief is coming
3. provide a temp solution

This would definitely earn you some cred back.

I been spreading the word on PCNA, encourage others to do the same across the servers. Even passed word to friends on PS.

@Tandor I hope you realize that they couldn't work this out for years and someone else was able to. they've clearly allocated more time and money to the crown store then game performance. Even Fanboys like you will run out of money someday

@Turelus what part of game performance being neglected for years eludes you? Some of us are very cynical after we watch the same thing happen year after year and nothing is done. While some people just suck up and play nice
