What is your dev/QA team doing?

How on Earth do you guys manage to break so much stuff? Do you lack resources? Automated tests? Seriously?

This Murkmire release has been a disaster and you're losing players left and right. The end-game raiding community is fractured and, frankly, exhausted from dealing with all of the bugs you introduced. My teams couldn't raid for essentially two months. It's tough to get people's muscle memory back and some just aren't willing to try again.

This morning, I'm just trying to do writs. Most of my characters are parked in Vivec City. I couldn't log into them because of this bug, and now I can't log in at all.

How do you do this emergency patch and manage to break the whole game?

What QA team? When the game launched, it was a few months before all the quests even worked properly and it was an omen of what was to come. ZOS don't do QA.
Even on the internet, clear communication is important; it can be the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse" and "helping your uncle jack off a horse"; the difference between "knowing your s***" and "knowing you're s***".

I've been here since beta, but now I'm considering cancelling my ESO+ and moving on. Shame as I still love the game when it works. Between this fiasco and the increasing greed of the company, I'm about done with this game. Fix the game or my wallet remains shut.

Time to look for another, I think.

Zenimax as a whole don't seem to do much QA, not QA that actually does them any favors atleast.

Look at the entire TES series or the BGS Fallout games.

Arkane and id do okay, but they make way smaller games with less systems interactions and still manage to *** it up sometimes. Software QA/Dev at some point decided trying to do well was too hard, so now they just brute force everything until it sort of works.

I mean with this patch breaking authentication it could be a problem with the deployment. However, why not test this in a staging environment before doing the emergency patch?

I get that it's the holidays and resources may be thin, but c'mon. This is getting old.

Never mind people, ZoS will put more shiny reskinned rubbish in the Crown Store as that is all they apparently care about.

QA teams get *** on in many games, but they can only find/verify and report. They get little respect by players for their hard work, which can at times be mind numbingly repetitive. Ask about the people they send their reports to instead (as the OP's title implied). Lots of things that go live broken were flagged by QA. Believe it.

I work on a software dev team. I know that bugs get reported and prioritized by Product Owners and/or management. I love our QA team and support their work.

However, there's something missing here with this game. Regression testing is a really tough thing to manage as a code base grows in size. You won't be able to test everything manually for every release. That's where automated tests help to catch things where you can't manually test. Also, maybe their QA or staging environments aren't the same as production so some of these bugs aren't caught.

For Murkmire, they made too many game-wide changes that were clearly not regression tested. Speed animations, "I was out of that" AOE bugs, and the update to support Mojave. It was a very aggressive release.

I'm sure a lot of blame falls on management for wanting to include so much into this release. Also, with all this crown cheddar, they really need to re-invest in the development and QA teams. I would guess they follow the pattern of hiring contractors too often who might not be as invested in the job as a full-time employee. /$0.02

In any case, this release should be embarrassing for ZOS. It would be nice to hear an acknowledgement from the company that they didn't do a great job this time and a re-commitment to sounder releases. I don't want to be the pessimist all of the time. They could leverage this as a positive change and re-energize the community?
