Need in game notifications that maintenance has been scheduled...not just minutes before shut down

Expecting us to check the forum for notifications of maintenance, given how often and irregularly it happens for this game, is not reasonable.

We need an in game announcement system that will tell us, in game, that new maintenance has been scheduled.

    I agree with this.

Although I visit the forum almost every day, and I can see if they put up something here, but it would be nice to know that there will be a maintenance for example, tomorrow, not just minutes before they perform it.

I was totally surprised today, because the dungeon finder issues seemed to be fixed yesterday (but yes, I guess it's a temporary fix again) so I thought there wouldn't be any maintenance now, especially not on the weekend...

Out of the 40 active members in my guild I'd say 4/5 of us regularly go on the forums.
Most just get their information from either us or the many Facebook pages

The information is clearly listed here. It's up to you to be an adult and come look for it.

It’s hardly an effort to go on your phone, tablet, PC and load a single website. It’s posted at the top. You could probably even create a google alert for it if you wanted. And normally maint. is pretty regular.

Normally they put a banner at the top, I'm a lazy adult and like to be catered to. So please put the banner up when you take the game offline, so I don't attempt to log in and see that I'm using an out dated client. kthx

    No.

No. There is no requirement for ESO players "to be an adult and spend time on the forums".

    No.

Game related issues should be posted in game. There should not be an extracurricular requrement to visit forums to get notifications. Game related notifications should happen in game.

There is no unwritten rule that says it's reasonable to have to visit a forum to know what it going on and when.

In addition, my phone does not have internet access, and social media is psychic cancer.

Careful what you wish for - if they implement that it will break the game for weeks in some bizarre totally-not-related kinda way.

well they announced it sometime yesterday late evening (for my local time). I was even playing at around 18 o clock local time, and I checked the forum and dev tracker then. and it wasnt there yet.
so took me by suprise this morning.
Actually probably they didnt know earlier so I think its allright in this situation (other than I am really frustrated I cant get anything today because I have to leave now and cant login after 16 local time today). but in general I agree they could be announced ingame a bit before the maintenance as well.

It's been broken/unstable for frigging forever. Ofc you're gonna get that in your face during an event like this.

Really, they could have seen this coming. But nooo, let's get the server down on a frigging Saturday because things fall apart *unexpectedly*.

They should have fixed that in the literal year since the bugs became obvious during the last event?

they needed to fix an issue...its not the "regular" one although they have now rolled it all up into one hit. Sheesh, peeps complain that something isn't working then complain when ZOS tries to fix it....ffs.

I did random normals on all 15 of my toons yesterday. There were no issues that I am aware of.

To answer your question, they are supposed to fix known issues PRIOR to creating an event that will rely upon software with known issues. AND, they can put their announcement in game and not require people to visit a forum to get information. (most information on most forums is total BS anyway. Nobody who doesn't want to should have to visit troll infested internet forums)

It is not! You have to visit the forum, wich is something only a very small of the playerbase does and then have to open a topic to see the announcements.

No, it's not. There are no pop ups on the 64 bit launcher.

These forums are the worst I've ever read for being unhelpful and troll infested. No reasonable person who is not addicted to ESO would waste their time reading these forums.

It is TOTALLY REASONABLE to expecct an in game system of notifications. If they can do it for crown store BS, they can do it for information that is relevant too.

There is always that pop up from the launcher. Usually pops up 24hrs in advance. Unless you keep the game going 24/7, ZOS seems to give good warning. If that is the case, use the time to step away and get some fresh air.

Is that a pop up? .....didn't think so. And no reasonable person opens the launcher to check for announcements.
