I'm disgusted with the lack of courtesy with some questers in the Clockwork City Event!

I know that everyone wants to complete their daily quests and get the goodies. Unfortunately, some people are just plain opportunists and don't play well with others. In the past several days, over three times, I've been standing over a clockwork city scavenger item that I needed, fighting the Clockwork city mechanical beings that were guarding it, and someone came in and grabbed it, while I was fighting. Since they weren't fighting, they had no trouble picking it up! I'd say that it was mostly new players, but one of the opportunists had a character score of 810, which indicates that they've been doing this a while. People need to come out of the PVP mode for regular quests and daily quests!

You are bound to run into *** in a MMO, it will happen.

If i see someone fighting close to a node, i leave them alone.
Might even throw in an AOE or light attack to help them out and then i move on.

Yeah, this happens. One thing to make sure is that you can't grab the node without pulling aggro. I have seen people fighting near a node that is not actually being guarded, and it is hard to tell if they are there for the node or the monster.

In any case, during events, if I can't take down the guards in one or two shots, I usually just go find one that is unguarded. If I do end up fighting, and lose the node, well... I got the XP and the spoils from the mob. They probably didn't.

Rick, I have been complaining about this since day one.

    Resource hackers.

They always will come in and steal what you believe rightfully belongs to you.

It's just too bad ZOS didn't make a friendly memento to interupt players in pve for at least 5 seconds that stuns them so you can pick up your resource node.

That will teach those 5 year olds a lesson.

I use the mudball collectible on people who steal a node while I'm fighting the thing guarding it.

It doesnt interrupt them. They still get the node.

But it gets the point across. I'm a fellow player. And I think you're a jerk.

...the only thing that i can think of to do, is to stand not on top of the node, but 1 or 2 steps behind it, so that you can have the node in eyesight while fighting and then when done, you can get the focus immediately without having to move...also i forsake just about all melee & use strictly ranged at that point, so i don't have to leave the spot...that helps, but sadly it won't eliminate the bad behavior of some players

The easy solution would be to wait just outside the mobs aggro range for another player to come up, forcing them to draw aggro which means they can't pick it up until they deal with them. Then you play their same game, swoop in and grab it.

heres the problem, well a couple of them.

    1. These players more than likely do not enjoy doing dailies (cause really who does after a certain point).
    2. This event is tied to a specific time period that gives, from what it looks like, a pretty cool reward.
    3. There are not enough nodes in smaller DLCs to handle the influx of players, especially not when they have access for free during ESO+ trial.
    4. Players are annoyed at having to do an obligatory thing. People enjoy many aspects of the game and the longer they have to do this "stupid daily" is the longer they can not do what they want to do.
    5. Nodes are not owned by anyone, hard and fast truth is just because you are fighting an enemy that spawns near a node that you want to gather, that node does not belong to you.
5a. An argument can be made that it is your obvious intention to collect that node, but an equally compelling argument can be made that you can't claim a node for yours simply by fighting enemies near it. One would hope that players show courtesy in this situation, but see #4, they want to be in and out as soon as possible, you are irrelevant to them.

How to fix? Get the crow daily, go to any other zone in the game, steal your items and turn it in. If you are trying to maximize rewards from this event you are going to have to either figure out a time that you are able to get what you need or join in the ratrace.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

I agree with OP. My chars are high level and normally will happily yield nodes to other players, assuming they need it as much or more than I. Besides, I'm often rewarded for yielding a node by finding another very quickly. The CWC event is different though. Despite a patient and gracious nature in game, it does get tedious spending half an hour under the 'Imperfect' WB bridge trying to get 8 plaques in that tiny circle with a hundred dear friends all trying to do the same thing at the same time.

The CWC dailies are fine quests most of the time but several of them are certainly not designed to support such a large number of players trying to do them as this event has predictably caused.

I was in waiting for Imperfect the other day and was watching as two players traded off on picking up the plaques. One, then the other, and repeat. This was right in the room with the Imperfect while we were waiting for him to drop down.

I usually do the same, unless someone else just snatched a node from under my nose, then I might feel snarky and act in similar discourteous manner for a bit. Might.

But generally, I do not snatch a node or chest when someone is fighting near it, or even when I see someone heading in that direction... I just move on, and get the next one. Way easier to do it like that, not getting worked up aboput taking -this- node, the next one will spawn anyhow... and when people are grabbing them more then usual because event, perhaps go farming in a less frequented corner of the map...

Let's face it, there is no "calling dibs" on an node, if someone else gets it first, that's just the way it is. Yeah, it can be discourteous if the ssnatch it from under your nose, when you have been fighting the closer mobs to take it... but its still your choice how to react to this. And the best choice is always to not react at all except maybe for a little sigh at how people have little honor these days, and move on to get the next node.

It just isn't worth getting your blood pressure up. ;)

ZoS in its infinite wisdom has neglected to reduce the spawn timings for resource nodes even though items received has been doubled. The area is always dried out and It's just not time efficient enough to undertake scavenger dailies during events this because resource nodes themselves are not as plentiful compared to vanilla zones.

During an event like this, don't even bother going for a node that has a mob standing over it. It's not worth the aggravation when someone comes along and steals the node from you. It's better to go over to some area where there are fewer people, to pick up the nodes without monsters nearby.

My worst experience was in my first event, tried to farm some motif from an TG delve, we was 8 players, I said we should group up so all would get loot. One guy agree so we ended up staring at the boss spot so we could drop ultimate on spawn.
    I left in disgust.
And yes for group loot is shared up to 12. One could keep watch while the other was afk or farming in delve.
If delve boss has many players on it, it respawn one minute or something later and the one who got loot the first time don't get loot the second time still you had to burn the boss.

ZoS is the one you should be pissed at here, as it was their genius idea to leave the top 12 limit for boss loot on such encounters.

Same thing happened with last TG event and the Witches' Festival dolmens the year prior to that.

I don't blame you for being upset and I'm not sure how getting 3g as your loot (if you even got that) would inspire new players to purchase and repeat the content. Forget getting actual motif pages.
