So is ZOS being DDoS'd right now? Download speed for update is only a few KB/s...

Trying to log in to collect my daily, waiting to update my client yet it's unreasonably slow. I hope if this continues for too long our rewards will be pushed back the days we couldnt log on.

Yeah the launcher told me there was an error and I had to do a repair. DL speed is 55KB/s.
    Nice network issues zos.

Well, some of it's not ZOS. I have only wildblue satellite, and while I haven't been (according to them) throttled, my download speed for anything right now is less than 20 kbps - when a month back it was 360 kbps. Yes, I'm over my limit. But if they don't admit to throttling my speed (which happens when you get the email, and I haven't), they can't roll back my used bandwidth.

So it's a thinly disguised ploy to force me to upgrade to Exede - the same plans that their forums are burnt to hell with posts about how bad they are.

My only other option is Hughes Net. Not sure that's any better.

Updates don't come from ZOS. Last I checked, ZOS used Akamai to distribute patches.

Yep, I just logged in for the first time today expecting the patch, except the download speed is 9Kb/s. I did better with my old 56K serial modem :P Normally my download speed is at least 12mb/s or more so something is sure causing the slowdown. Just did a speed test to Seattle and I was getting 150mb/s, so it's not something at my end.

EDIT: Well now I'm not getting any download at all. Looks like it's a good night to watch TV. Attention @ZOS_GinaBruno , @ZOS_JessicaFolsom

I googled that and the first result says *state of the art content delivery*. This sounds either wrong or scary. :o

same here - not steam, but still 10 kB/sec. This is just ridiculous. If they could not even check how well they will distribute the patch on the patch day - they are long due go out of business... I really REALLY would love to have any other game with fantasy setting and similar graphics. I would seriously consider switching... And events like this just telling me that I need to keep watching for the new MMO RPG.

    A.) Akamai IS garbage.
B.) It doesn't distribute anything, it is a type of firewall/router for online services to protect against ddos both intentional and accidental.

In a sense, yes Akamai "distributes patches" but only because ALL ESO game traffic goes through akamai.

My download finished and when I tried to play, ESO crashes on startup. So trying to repair again...

Same here. Normally 30+ MB/s, currently sitting at less than 20 KB/s. I can stream and surf just fine, so not an internet connection problem.

I'm having issues too. I also can stream and surf fine, but my download is at about 40 KB/s.

I think you are referring to the Akamai DDoS protection system (Prolexic Technologies). I was referring to the Akamai Technologies CDN.

Yes, Akamai is just the DDoS protection. All traffic routes through it, at their Maryland data center I believe. Everyone's connection has to make a round trip through there.

It's why the ping rates are highish even if you live close to the NA server location (like I do).

Multiple repairs have failed and I get an error telling me to run game consultant, so I guess I'm deleting the game & launcher and installing from scratch.

Sounds like I'm winning with my blazing fast 26.6kb/s throughput. Only 21mb to go. Eat my dust!

On a serious note, I work in web hosting and network issues aren't always easy to solve, and DDoS mitigation can be hit or miss. You can't possibly whitelist every legit public IP. We could see this for days and they may not be able to do much about it.

I was wondering if something was up. I'm hard wired into my modem trying to update my laptop and its not going anywhere fast. :/
