    You mean a 10% discount, right? o:)

No next time it'll be a 5% discount

Hope they have a 10% off crown sale soon, but at the rate things are going I'm afraid it will probably be just 5%.

They should do this in the format of the patch notes.

    Crown Store

[*] Reduced the cost reduction of crown sales to 5% from 10%.
      Developer comment:
We felt that 10% were too much of a drain on our purse and 5% better reflects our intentions of earning more money.

This is a nerf, if you are an ESO player, and a buff if you are a studio executive.

As an eso+ subscriber you are already getting the defined subscriber only benefits (crowns etc).

It was a simple contract and you paid for it and you are getting what you paid for.

So why on earth do you think you should get something because others are benefiting from a short free sample?

Learn the difference. You've got no right to berate paying customers with a legitimate grievance.

In no walk of life are you entitled to benefit retrospectively from a promotion of a product that you already bought.

So you do NOT have a legitimate grievance.

All customers have rights that extend beyond the point of purchase. Customers of an ongoing paid service also have the right to voice concerns or complaints about the quality of said service.

Just because you feel they ought not to doesn't make it so. And no matter how you feel, berating others as "wastes of air" is unacceptable. Would advise you remove your head from your rear.

I'd credit effective marketing for that. The very first event put the ESO+ bonus at a much higher priority than the trial. That may be why I didn't even remember it when compiling that prior list. Because all the 2018 events have put the trial at a higher priority than the bonus. But the message of that first event has carried over for many, so the "Free stuff!" approach definitely worked.

Know what makes adventuring in Tamriel even more awesome? Free stuff! From July 5-9, ESO Plus members can log in to receive up to five free Dwarven Crown Crates. Not an ESO Plus member? You can enjoy a free trial of the service for the duration of the event, no strings attached.

The effectiveness of the marketing now? Not that great. The other two pictures past the crown stack were of the Bal statue and the 2015 Green Narsis Guar Black Fredas bundle. It's just so vague and coy. Instead of a "Free stuff!" approach, they're taking a "Trust us!" approach. Which is tone deaf because while there are a lot of nitpicks and opinions out there, there's been a pervasive cloud of negativity for a while. They should be spending advertiser dollars to rise above that cloud, even at the expense of possibly spoiling some of the surprises they have in store.

Unless their idea of spoilers is re-releasing a 2015 bundle, which in that case, holy *** fork.

I'd say its their standard technique.

Its as if they have a dial with "makes players happy" on the left and "makes us money" on the right when they release something and then when they do each iteration, they jog the dial a bit more to the right. Crown crates is another example of this.

Just wish they could realise that "makes players happy" and "makes us money" don't have to be at opposite ends of the dial.

As has been pointed out by many, many people - these feelings/complaints haven't come out of nowhere. The very first ESO+ trial included free crates and. in fact, was the lead-in of the news post. https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/26107

The free crates have always been given during the Plus trials as a way to say thank you to the subscribers. By taking it away, under the premise that "more benefits have been added"...the crates were never parted of the advertised benefits. It was a thank you.

It's just an added insult that the additional benefits are pretty lackluster and even worse that 50% of the new crown exclusive stuff comes at a pretty meager discount and is a reskin of an existing mount. Additionally, the fact that this change was coming was not announced with the rework to ESO+ (because, again, it was never a benefit but rather a thank you for subbing) so no one had any idea until the news article announcing the trial didn't mention them. We had to ask for clarification because it was not announced.

So yeah, people feel upset. It feels like ZoS is saying one thing (we're increasing the value of your subscription) while doing another (yes, this 10% discount is totally awesome, don't forget the free paperweight, oh I guess you noticed that lack of phrasing about crates, cat's out of the bag, sorry not sorry, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).

If you can't see any complaint about the quality, you haven't been paying attention.

This entire thread is about how ZOS is decreasing the value of the sub. The value of the sub is part of the quality of the service.

My personal complaint is that they are pushing a PR line about "increasing the value" while they take the things away that made it valuable for many players. The things they gave us in return were substantially less valuable. We have a right to expect a certain degree of value from our paid subscriptions, and when we're not getting it, we have the right to tell ZOS how we feel.

If at this point you can't understand the real issue, you might as well hop out of the thread.

Perhaps ultimately the crate based business model was not as promising as it seems and the original plan of a more stable subscription based plan may have had more merit in the long term?

Zos was probably wetting our whistle for a new crate season and they are already giving us that every month now. They may be testing to see if it affects new subs they get from the trial.

Clearly this one does not pay attention to the forums as many of us complain about servers and other issues with the game. That does not mean our choice to voice our thoughts about other aspects are or should be diminished.

Heck, some of your posts seem to be along the lines we have no business expressing our thoughts on the matter which is clearly absurd to suggest customers should just shut up like that.

well for me the nub of it is that because people received a GIFT before and because they see other people getting a GIFT now (free trial) eso+ subscribers now feel ENTITLED to get a gift as well.

Maybe its a generational thing but I find that kind of behaviour childish.

Well for now they surely lost one subber. I see no point paying sub, when game works (sadly) very bad, disconnects, kickbacks to login screen, caanot login, ping randomly jumping and offering us telemarketer like discounts and special offers... sigh wish they would stop adding stuff for some time and fix everything.

This is something to take note of moving forward, for those of you subscribed to ESO Plus, or thinking about subscribing.

Free crates during ESO Plus trial events were an unstated ESO Plus benefit. These are being granted by ZOS out of "contract" and they can do more of these, or less of these, as they see fit. In other words, ZOS does not consider them to be part of the advertised ESO Plus benefit. It is just something that they did on a whim, so to speak. ESO Plus benefits are a business calculation, first, then they might consider doing something to show appreciation.

Don't subscribe to ESO Plus expecting more than they advertise that they are giving on the ESO Plus page in the store.

Personally, I think it would have been better for them to have rolled the free crates during the Trial period into the formal ESO Plus benefits, rather than cut them, but it is possible that they did not see this complaint coming. We do get a lot of crates for free from them. Easily more than 100 since they started doing this. Still, I'm considering that ZOS has scraped together quite the collection of regularly poked open wounds with the players. They really don't need more of them.

Yeah I was debating on continuing eso+ but from what other people are doing now they're just buying a separate account to use it as a mule account and have there main account empty with all the maxed out inventory space and bank space to keep doing those writs every day without worrying about overflowing.
