vigor for magicka users

would be very pleasing to have a selfheal like that instead of running resto staff. i think sorcs and nb for example would welcome that

Most classes have a self heal. NB can use siphoning strikes and Sorcs have the crit surge or whatever. Even with the nerf harness magicka and the sorcerer shields are great ways of avoiding damage for mag users.

Sounds like you play Sorcerer and NB quite a bit, you really know your stuff!

Since ZOS removed initial heal from healing ward, it feel Magicka need Vigor

I'd much rather have a Magicka HOT Vigor than shields...Shields are a pain and force you to spam them for several GCD's. Vigor can be rolldodge/casted and you keep up the pressure.

ZOS knows how powerful Vigor is in PVP especially when STACKED. I get it there is no Stam Resto...so some common sense is needed for this narrative. Just sucks to have no choice but to equip a resto on certain classes in PVP for backbar.

Almost all stamNBs use 2h either on Frontbar or the Backbar for the HoT and most also use Rally for the burst heal.

ZOS intentionally made Magicka NB healing worst due to cloak hate!

MNB are suffering with poor healing and broken shields meanwhile Stam NB are enjoying Cloak, Dodgeroll, Vigor, Rally, Bleed and Spin 2 Win

With the heal gone to healing ward it feels a bit exposed for sorcs. Clannfear a viable option if we could single bar, say back bar him and use that for a heal

@Tasear Many people feel that there is a distinct lack of healing options (specifically in PvP), especially with the nerf to Healing Ward.

Specifically, Sorc and NB needs more robust sources of healing to compete in PvP (mag blade isn't terribly great in PvP, let's be perfectly honest)

We also feel forced to slot resto staves in PvP, whereas a stamina character has all of the flexibility in the world by being able to slot whichever weapons they want since their defenses rely on non-weapon-skill mechanics like dodge and Vigor. Many Magicka characters would love to backbar an ice staff, or an SnS or something of that nature like a DK would but instead we need a heal stick

I'll just answer that, if you don't mind.

Vigor is an extremely strong self-HoT, way, WAY better than Rapid Regen.
Further, it doesn't require an otherwise useless weapon. What if Vigor was a S&B skill? Suddenly, the Master's Bow would be off-limits. This demonstrates how strong Vigor's no-weapon necessity is.
After the shield adjustments, HoTs look even better for magicka users. ZOS want us to use them, the stamina community demands us to use HoTs and not stack shields. So it would make sense to actually give us a strong self-HoT.
And lastly, despite it being the strongest self-HoT in the game, it also has very good AoE heals embedded into it.

Another aspect is when looking at build options to try to get something that doesn't rely on shields...

Frost staff exists as a potentially viable magicka defensive option. But when you have to stop blocking, switch to resto, cast and switch back to start blocking again just to get a (weak)heal, it's easy to see how unviable it is.

I find some of the arguments here funny, though...

Years of 'nerf noskill shield spamming!', then 'ok, then give us a viable alternative'..... 'NO, you have shields...!'. Lol.

Also I don't see vigour as being akin to surge.. Surge is more like Fwd Momentum. There is no strong heal to stack on top of a weak hot.
I've seriously been looking at mag hybrid builds just to be able to use the actual vigour...

I wanted that to work on a sorc, but 2 bar slots and a dumb pet make it very restrictive.

As for the OP; I would love vigor added to my magplar but it might be a bit much.

Yeah that would be awesome but your 2 slots get you quite a lot, good emergency heal for you or a group member, 8% health is fairly massive + other passives and added dps where as vigor is a dead slot until you have to use it.

Zos stated that shields were overpowered because Magicka users didnt have to sacrifice any offensive abilities for survival. On the flip side Stamina builds dont need to sacrifice any damage for their defensive which are heals. Rally good heals buff dmg. Vigor god heal doesnt require anything specific. Rending slashes.. current meta does unhealable dmg AND heals lol. Seems to be all offensive to me.


They attacked shields for Magicka users without addressing the other side of the arms war which was Stamina specs receiving a ton of healing without sacrificing damage. I get that Stamina had to be compensated for what shields were becoming but you cant address one without addressing the other side.

Not really. The health is from a passive which is completely wasted on most sorc' builds. Sorc' is EXTREMELY challenged for bar space, and that emergency heal is useless unless it's reliable. When you need it, the pet is usually already dead. And to stop that from happening, you need to shield the pet -which completely defeats the objective of getting away from shields in the first place!
