That said, something that helped me and might help others struggling to get it: walk up to the edge, turn around, hold block, and then slowly inch off the ledge backwards. That should keep your momentum low enough that you'll still land on the outcropping, albeit barely. Not foolproof, but most characters I've done it with have nailed it on the first or second try.
Also, if you're trying to get it with a tank character, make sure you're not blocking with a shield, since if you have the Battlefield Mobility passive (and you probably do), your move speed while blocking with a shield is too fast. Equip a non-S+B weapon first, or just unequip and block using your hands.

Yes. Title is not a joke.
And ESO should not be an arcade game, depending of player's jumping abilities.
I mean skyshard in Murkmire, south of Dominus Fatum, locating at sharp, tiny peak of the rock, unnaccessible from below. Player needs to jump down correctly.
Maybe it's funny for someone 20 years old, esperienced in arcade games. For me, over 50 old guy with slow fingers, is not fun trying time after time and repeatedly fall down to water. And go around to try again and again. With first alt I've done it accidentally maybe at 10th attempt. And I have 14 chars more. Need this skyshard to be done at each of them, as I need skillpoints
