Idea to solve the DD Group Finder problem: Show DD/Tank/Healer ratio on Character Select screen

We all know how terrible it is to queue up as a damage dealer in the group finder. Unless you get lucky, it can take a very long time.

It has been over 4 years since the game has been released, and many players have multiple characters now. Showing the ratios of the character roles for players that are in the Dungeon Finder queue COULD incentivize players with multiple characters to log in with their healers and tanks, making the overall ratios more healthy. It could further incentivize players that haven't made a tank or healer yet to create a new character for the purpose of finding groups faster.

What do you think?

I doubt that there's anything that can be done to change player behavior. I've been saying for years that the fix for the queue is to allow the players to choose from a structured group or instead a first available group. The first available is probably going to have all DD's in it, but a lot of us don't care especially in normal dungeons. My DD is going to run that normal random no matter how long I have to wait because I want the bonus XP that comes with it.

An interesting twist to the idea above would be to require a certain CP before you are allowed to choose first available. In fact that really should be a thing because lower level characters will be more affected by missing roles in a group.

I have another proposition - something like “Undaunted brotherhood” which show number of tanks, healers, dps in queue. If person see that there is urgent demand for his role he may queue to randoms again for increased reward.

I've posted this same idea and I really think it's the simplest "fix" for fake queues and DD queue times.

Change a setting for a no-roles group, queue up, group tool picks first 4 in queue regardless of role.

People wont have to fake a role to get decent queue times.
People that don't care for tanks or heals in their group likely won't get any.
People that like tanks and heals are less likely to get a fake one.
DD queue times should be lower on both settings.

There isn't anything that can really be done.

The problem is there are exponentially more DD than tanks and healers combined probably. with 4 person limit on a group you just have to wait your turn, or run in a group of friends.

the problem is not that people log on and are willing to choose the most wanted. Hell, even before starting up their computer they already know that tank is the most wanted and needed so no point in displaying just that on the character login screen !

The problem is that these roles are unattractive and underwhelming in their current state and therefore unattractive to players

The fake rolers dont want action to be taken... they are happy also that genuine players are punished if they decide to not carry them.

Its kinda baked in that way now if you have gear to do either tank/healer or DPS. Tanks have que times of instant to 3 mins (in my experience) healers a tad longer, and DPS 30 min+. Tanking does get boring quickly (healing as well) and it is extremely painful when you are the tank and your pulling 60+% of the group damage and the dungeon takes 5x longer. The current state of people who are fairly competent in their roles is squed atm. For pledges I'd rather take the longer que as a dps so I know that the dungeon will go more smoothly since I can pull 40k+ dps, not trying to sound elitist here but honestly go tank pug vet dlc dungeons and get stuck with people who don't know how to DPS effectively and ask yourself if tanking it worth it.

Not bashing low DPS chars, people need to start somewhere but when your basicly at the mercy of the DPS to complete content I'd rather take fate into my own hands and just DPS instead of tanking

Please share your build, I'm really interested how you kill 60% of 300-400k vet mobs with tank.

I don't mean I'm pulling absurd numbers when I'm tanking, but when I'm only doing 5-8k DPS and that accounts for more than 60% of the groups overall damage then I know I'm in for a long dungeon.

He never said he killed 60% of the mobs. He stated he was pulling 60% of the damage. This would mean he is pulling about 180-240K of the damage on the mobs you defined the health for. That really isn't that uncommon in groups with poorly skilled or uncaring Damage Dealers.

This means that the two Damage Dealers together are pulling a total of 120-160K damage per mob.

Remember that 60% of the damage done to a single mob does not equal a specific amount of damage per second.

A Tank will eventually kill just about anything that doesn't heal itself or have a "game over" timer. It just takes much more time, a high survivability build and even perhaps a dedicated healer.

dps is so broken in this game they even dps themselves with the 30 minute wait timer cooldown and finish with the fake tank ultimate.
    It's 0.0666 of a second to midnight.

    I like this idea!

They could also scale the XP reward for random dungeons based on role demand, meaning that they could give DDs a lower XP reward than the standard 101k/33k while giving healers and tanks higher rewards - all dynamically based on role demand.
